LMFAO!!! That's not sick, that's seriously ill!

I suppose someone would have to walk behind it just to clean up after it. :hehe:

As fare as a rear or front diff, I would prefer to go with the dropped A-arm look of the real Humm-V instead of a straight axle. That will take some tinkering unless someone knows of a similar setup that I can get separately. As far as gearing and trans, this has way too long of a wheelbase for a crawler, so I'd like to get some better speed out of it also.
If it is a independen suspension set up and better speed you are looking for you could go with a E Maxx drive train.

New shoes update:

Here's what I had to work with to get an idea of what I needed. On the left is a 1.9 from the Ugly Truckling. The rest are 2.2 rims with different size tires. It all came down to how it would look on a military vehicle.

I thought I'd try reversing the lock rings, but it still didn't look right.

I had to get past the chrome and anno, so it was time to take it one step further.

Works for me!

I like the way tou used the tan fabric to simulate the desert look for the pictures, LOL!!! and the wheels look good, so what do you think about using E Maxx drive train for your build on this?

Which ones? The 8 on the inside rim were painted, and I like the outside ones in black. All tan, and it would look stamped.

I'm not sure on the Emaxx drive train, yet. I think it might end up too wide.

What about finding the old school narrow arms from when they first came out like on the T Maxx with the .15 motor, I will look through my stuff I might still have my old narrow arms laying around some where:D

I need to take an accurate measurement on the offset of the wheels, plus their width, then try to locate an indy suspension with a rear diff that will fit within the body. If necessary, I'm willing to raise it a little higher if I can't get the tires to clear the body, but I want to keep it as close as possible.
A solid rear just doesn't belong on a Humm-V, so I won't do anything other than independent A-arms.

UPDATE...Interior started

Here's the beginning of the interior module, designed to slip into the HV as one lightweight unit. constructed of 1/4" foam core board and balsa.

Floor creates a one piece belly pan under the truck, and the consoles create a tunnel to run wires or a drive shaft through.

Test fit A-okay

Only the inside detail left. Steering wheel, pedals, gauges, radios, computers and telephones, inside and outside lights and windows.

I have a thread in the 'want to buy' section. I'm looking for info on the old .15 max diffs and A arms. Anything left over from the Savage is WAY too wide, so I'm hoping the old Max will be about the size I need.

wow, very very nice work Ralph!!! do you know how wide exactly you are wanting the axle setup? i have some diffs and a arms off a truck that might work for ya pending how wide you want.

Yes that is coming along quite well. I like it. Still going to be hard to top The Ugly Truckling though. It is still the greatest piece or RC art I have seen.

Damn Ralph your attention to detail is amazing, if this turns out any thing like the Ugly Truckling it will deserve a spot in a RC magazine, and of cousre a spot on your shelf, LOL!!!!

It's close to finished, except for the mechanicals and the lights.
I'm not happy with the driver's dashboard so I'll be designing another one that looks a bit 'duller'.
The looooong whip antenna will actually be the one for the receiver. I went with my FM setup instead of the 2.4 for that reason. There will also be an assortment of other antennas just for the 'look'.
Outside mirrors, windows and a little more interior wear and tear, and this one can go on hold for a while. I could use the sleep. :D
