Hey people! How are we all? Good I hope! I have a bit of a drama with one of my cars and wonderin if anybody could help me out with a little wisdom. I'm relatively new to the world of bashin nitro cars and still learning. any help appreciated!
I got a Sidewinder 1/10 off road buggy, with a Vertex .18 engine that i'm havin troubles with! I think I've got my lsn and hsn are all out of sync, and having so much trouble getting the thing to run well, ARGH! Add to that the I think I might have an air leak at the carb, it can twist in housing, that I read can be takin care of with a bit of silicon (RTV), around the base of carb and tighten locking bolt. Thats no big deal, but getting the car to start and run properly is my headache at the moment! I have set the throttle screw at the reccomended 1-2mm barrell clearance when throttle at full brake. So i think that is right, but was wondering if there was a ball-park lsn and hsn setting that will get me started and able to dial in settings. It has a pull start at present and takes for ever to get it to start. Only by holding throttle wide open when cranking seems to get it to fire, and then it takes many pulls. When going on bench while revs are up, it is great, but wont hold idle, dies. When on track, car goes well for about a minute then revs gradually die even when trigger on controller pulled for wide open throttle, car just slowly idles and dies, has no power either.
Any help would be great people! TY!

BRETT.

I have a truggy with the vertex .18 engine. I would fix the air leak first. That could be the whole problem. If it is leaking, it will run rough and not idle properly. The base line settings for that engine are 2 1/2 turns from fully closed for both the lsn and hsn.

Hey bishiman, how are you mate! Thankyou so much for the advice and help with the needle settings. Yeah i reckon i take care of that loose carb first and then have another go at dialing settings in today. Thanks mate!

Brett!
