Sounds like you got a good deal for $125 the Rig looks like its in decent shape I would of jumped on the deal as well

Finally got a VXL transmission for it, made a few mods to get a Losi ESC mounted and a Venom rx mounted. She had alot of fun playing with it, even got a few jumps in until the right rear shock broke. Looks like the cap just popped off, so maybe I can get it fixed up tonight.

The caps are a real weak point on the Traxxas shocks, I've popped mine a lot and they're like Pringles, once you pop you can't stop. You can either get another set of the stock ones for around $20 on ebay and replace the caps with the aluminum ones but by time you do that, you're just under the cost of some Big Bores from a chop shop. You can get by with just screwing the cap back on, make sure the diaphragm didn't fall out, refill and tighten it down nice and snug.

If you're into moding, you could throw some 1/8 scale buggy shocks on it. I can't remember what buggy but I've read a few threads on it and they say the handling is much better and the shocks can take a real beating.

I tore into it later in the evening after getting home, discovered the diaphragm was missing. Grabbed a flashlight and started hunting, actually found it in the grass! I refilled both rears, just because I had no clue what was in for oil before. When I put them back together I noticed that the caps are junk, the threads skip when you get too tight. Told my wife she'll be needing new shocks soon, but it'll be awhile before she buys some, not really a priority for her.

I love the Stampede, one of my favorite bashers...I have had a dozen are so of them! Tons of hop ups available can be had at a reasonable price.

I love pedes too. Simple and effective. If you're careful, you can build up the last couple threads with ca. Give the cap something to bite.

In the past I have used aluminum caps on plastic shock bodies with great results!

I hope you keep that body, it's vintage and looks great with those wheels & tires.
