i have an older HPI rs 4 nitro 3 just went to go use it yesterday and the servos arent responding to the remote very well. what would cause this?

Do they respond at all? When your close to it? How long since you used it. When was the last time you replaced or charged the batteries in both the radio and the receiver pack?

brand new batteries in both, it was responding when i was close to it but they seemed like they were hesitating, now the steering servo barely responds at all. the throttle servo is still responding fairly well

They are just getting worn out, replace them, and itll be fine. Like you said, its an older model, just like on real cars, parts wear out and you gotta replace them.

If you have, or can get another compatible receiver then put that in. I dont buy into the 'servo's wearing out while not being used' theory.
Test it... Put the throttle servo connector in the steering port, and vice versa. If the throttle servo now acts as a steering servo then change the other servo.
If one servo glitches badly it can effect, even burn out the receiver if its a cheaper one.
Try that first....

thanks guys dont have time until the weekend to fool around with it but definitely helpful advice. btw are the HPI stock servos decent? what servos are decent and are cheap?

I'm having the same problem.

Thanks for the help

i had a little free time this evening so i spend it fooling around with this thing and the verdict is in : the transmitter/receiver was the issue. tried an older set and both servos worked awesome.....i guess I'm now on the hunt for a transmitter receiver set now.... thanks again for the ideas and advice guys
