Hey guys i have a scx 10 3 jlu rtr so the 3003? Anywho i put rear steer in, i used a scx 10 2 front axle and basically plug and play. The servo on axle just touches the back center braces and i lose little less than a 1/4" of shock travel which I'm happy with so i don't need to chop anything.

The issue i have is , the rear wheels move faster than front.
for 1 rotation of rear wheel, my front only did about 65% . Now its the same ring and pinion as the 10 3 front which is a 30t ring and 8t pinion .

The 10 3 portal gears are 23/12 and the 10 2 front diff in the rear is 16/16.

I can't find any portal gears for the 10 2 portal. So basically I'm wondering should i underdrive the rear ring pinion and if so to what, 27/8? And if it still mpves faster then overdrive the front to 33/8? I like my crawl as it is so i really would rather touch the portals.

the 10 3 portal gear 12tooth is squared in the center so it does not fit in the 10 2 portal. The 10 3 23 tooth is huge and does not fit the 10 2 portal.

any idea thanks guys

If I'm not mistaken tge basecamp has 10.2 axles with portals. 🤔

Besides the ring and pinion difference the portals have gearing in them you can change out also.

I will look at the basecamp.

The ring and pinion are the exact same. Its the portals that dont work.

I was just curious if i should underdrive the rear and or overdrive the front.

The portals i can't seem to find gears for a 10 2

Well do whatever it takes to get the ratio where you want it 🤷🏻
It's the same thing in the end, changing the gearing in the portals or the diffs.

Sounds good. By chance do you know what i should do?

If my rear portals are 16/16 so 1:1 and my front is 12/23. How do i figure the ratio just divide? Then i can maybe find the perfect diff gears because i cannot find portal gears for the ar44 portal for scx 10 2

Oof, that's a big difference. Not sure you can compensate with the ring and pinion sets.

Especially since it would be OK if your front was faster (overdrive up to 50%), but a faster rear in a crawler is a no-no.

Can you swap the F and R axles?

I don't feel like doing math right now but try and find the fastest front diff gears (biggest pinion smallest ring) and the opposite for the rear.

Yes haha well after researching and doing math ended up if i do the front with 24/8 and the portal 23/12, that leaves me at 4.91

Rear gets 33/8 with the 16/16 portal leaves it at 5.125 so now i have a .215 overdrive in the front which I'm not sure in percentage but now to regain my torque i am doing a 11 tooth pinion from a 14 and ill be back to equal my gearing before or i can do a 10 and get a significant torque increase

My original pinion spur ratio was 40/14 = 2.857 and with 11 its 3.636 and with 10 its 4.

Ordered both and il play around. Assuming i did my numbers correct.

Originally my ratio with portals was 3.75 with 30/14 and with front portals at 23/12 it was 5.67

Rear was 30/14 with 16:16 was 4.75

This make sense? Haha
