I ran into a guy at Hobbytown today, and just happen to overhear that he was selling some TRex stuff. I ask him what he had, and he just happened to have it with him. I went though the stuff he was selling and picked out enough stuff to (just about) build a new heli.
The list:
1) 450 SA aluminum airframe (New, still in box!)
2) complete set of Futaba servos. (three regular and one tail)
3) Thunder Power 14.8 2000mah Lipo.
4) set of 325mm carbon fiber blades
5) Futaba 6 ch reciever. (PCM? I think)
6) brushless motor and pinion (can't remember the brand, but the guy at HT said it was worth about 100$.

I offered him 250$ for the lot, and he accepted! (He had two big nitros in the car, so I think he just outgrew the 450's)

I didn't have the cash on me, so I agreed to meet him Monday to make the exhange.
All I need to add is a TX, a ESC, and a Gryo. (I already have a HH gyro on my blade CPP, so I can use that for now.

Sorry, I just had to tell somebody, I was about to bust with the excitement. (so much for the Blade 400 I was going to get, huh?):second_place:

Yep some guys at my local hobby shop scored today like that also, they were clearencing out the 2.5 T-maxx's for dirt cheap NIB. Like rolex said its good to be in the right place at the right time!

Well I picked her up today. The guy I bought it from, was great to deal with. He even threw in an extra set of blades, a pitch guage, and several other misc. items.

Ladies, and geltlemen.......... The booty!:second_place:

Can't really beat the T-rex. Still the go-to rig in 450's. Just take the time to set it up right and it should serve you well.

Anyone have any tips on setting this thing up? I think I can figure it out, but imput from more experienced pilots never hurts. I have only flown RTF's, and have never actually set one up before. (Though I have rebuilt my Blade CPP quite a few times LOL)
Any suggestions on TX, or ESC selection? Also, is the 4s Li-Po too much? The manual calls for a 3s.

Oh, and the most important thing; What kind of paint scheme should I go with? =devil Any ideas?

Ok. More goodies.
Spectrum DX6I TX and RX.
Common sense 11.1V 2100mah Lipo.
Align 500X head lock gyro (not pictured)
and Align 35 amp ESC.

Ran into a snag today. I found that one of the Futaba s3103 servos was stripped.:depress: So I decided to order three new 3107 servos from Tower.:second_place: I also ordered a gear set for the stripped one. (all three of those will be used to upgrade my Blade CPP.)
In conclusion; this build will be on hold for about a week while I wait for the new hardware. We'll get there though, and I'll keep you updated.

congrats man!
i just swapped my 500 for a revo .
helis are great but the crash costs are just to high for me anymore.

p.s worth upgrading that gyro to a gy401 great for 3d.
and what servos do you have?

Thats true about the gyro. I probably will.
I ordered some Futaba s3107's for it since one of the 3103'3 were stripped. They should be in tomarrow.

I'd love to watch some heli-action if you're flying any time soon let me know. I'd like to venture out and see them in person.

Well, she's together, but, I'm having problems with the tail rotor. It's uncontrollable as of right now. I still have some learning to do I guess.:constipat

Nice deal man.

I've always been scared to get a heli. I might crash it and stuff.

Funny you should mention that. She had her maiden flight yesterday.... Right into the side of my truck!:gulp:

I was so preocupied with the tail rotor issue,(which turned out to be too much pitch) that I didn't notice that the aileron servo horn was quite a bit out of adjustment. Soooo... She went in sideways on the Silverado.:surrender I'm a decent pilot, but, apparently not so decent at properly setting up a new heli. The damage: Broken flybar control arm, and a stripped out washout base. (not so bad, but still puts me out of commision untill I can get replacements.)

Man, hope you get it figured out. I want a heli so bad but I'm afraid of having the same problems. I wished I knew someone local that's an expert on them so I could learn how to fix it or troubleshoot in person. I'd hate to even begin typing a "I need help" thread on a heli.

I will probably buy a Blade CX2 or something simple to learn with. Local shop sells them as well as the parts.

Thats what I did. I got the CX2 first, then the CP Pro, Now the TRex. If I had it to do over again, I would have skipped the CP Pro and went strait to the Blade 400. (but it wasn't out then). If you can fly the CP pro, then you can fly anything. Very twitchy heli. Larger and heavier heli's are much more stable.
The truth is; If you choose to learn to fly heli's, you WILL crash, and you will crash a lot. But once you learn the ropes, nothing else will ever intimidate you. I would pick up a TX and try just about anything now.

In short... Just take the plunge. It takes a lot of practice, but is very rewarding when you do finally get it.

I may buy the simulator program first and crash the freebies first. :)

Have you ever used any sims?

Yeah. I have FS1. It is great, very realistic, but nothing beats experience with the real thing.

We'll have to get together one weekend. We can fly and bash. What's in your stable?

Check my profile, I've got a few goodies. Only the 4-wheel kind as of now.
