Hey Guys,

I am getting ready to start my build on the SC10 and I was wondering if I should spend the extra $30 and get the gear diff for the truck. That way I could get it installed during the initial build instead of the ball diff. Any of you guys using this part? Thanks

Tom

Personally I would. I have bad luck with ball diffs though. The one in my RC10t4 is always crapped out from my brushless setup I had in it. I say it saves a ton of maintenance in the long run.

That was my first reaction as well. Ball diffs require so much maintenance and with the BL setup they just seem to wear out quicker. It seemed to me to make more sense to just put the gear diff in. That way I can tune with diff oil instead of having to rebuild the ball diff.

I would stick with the gear diff unless you are racing and have a good bit of experience. I just rebuilt both my race SC10's and stuck with the gear diffs. I did however replace the black grease with some 7000wt. silicone diff fluid. Seems to be way better.Enjoy the build.

Thanks WrenchHead, I will go ahead and order the gear diff before I start the build. I am very much looking forward to sitting down and getting this build started for sure.

I wonder if that gearbox would fit in the RC10t4? If it would it would allow me to pull it back out of mothballs and drive it again. Crappy that the ball diff was so damn weak.

I do believe it would fit the T4.... the transmission on the SC10 is identical to the T4. The whole SC10 kit is a T4 kit on steroids. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the only difference in the T4 and the T4.1 is that the T4.1 is brushless? The diff is supposed to fit the T4.1 the B4.1 and the SC10.

How bout a build thread Tom? They're always a blast.:)

I'm working on it. I got everthing unboxed and layed out, then I got sick, and now my wife and kids have it. I hope to start it this weekend. It will all depend on how the family holds up. I really can't wait to start....
