I have a savage with a orionwasp .28. When it warms up it will not idle. It will idle for a couple seconds and then cuts out after a run. The temp was around 160- 190 At full thottle it has a good trail of smoke and it sounds like the motor is screaming and is not switching to second gear.It seems slow. It has a 16t clutch bell a 49t spur gear. I tried to adjust the tranny with no results. LSN 4 1/4 turns out. HSN 2 3/4 turns out. never saw a temp above 205. Where should I go leaner or do I have bigger problems? when it cuts out it makes a "ding" sound

sounds like you are running VERY RICH. Your LSN is over 10 turns out, which I doubt it default settting for that carb. Do you happen to have the manual? You can look in it and it should say the factory default settings. Try resetting it to those and then running it again.

Pat, I think he means 2 3/4 turns out, my man! Factory on this is 4.5 to 5 turns out on the HSN, 6-6.5 on the LSN. I am fighting the same thing, but I think, given what you have stated, you are too lean on the LSN. Try backing the LSN out to 3 3/4 and take your HSN in to about 4 and give it a shot.

Good luck!

Thanks, I'll try that. I pulled my plug to after oil and found it to be white and distorted. I think you right to lean. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again
