Well,

My parents are looking to buy me a car to go to college in. It can't be too expensive, and can't be too low of gas milage (over 30mpg). So, the Saturn people came out with the new SKY. Looks pretty sweet if you ask me. I went looking for one today, but no one had one (got to sit in a Pontiac Solstice, which is almost the same car). What do you guys think about it?

By the way, I'm not getting off that easy, i get to pay half of the car payments per month, which i feel is a good thing, cause my parents are gonna cruise around the other half... lol

I would get the Solstice. It's cheaper, But that allow's you to choose the option's you want. VS that saturn wich is fully loaded. All in all I'm sure it's a great car,It's just a little spendy. If your gonna buy one knew. Pontiac is releasing a GTP or something like that package that tack's on 240 horsey's to that engine next year, Just a little something to concider.

With all the gas prices... I would consider getting into a hybrid. Prius, Camry, Lexus GS 450h...<<< I want this one. Not getting it.

Gets 30mpg (with the more hp package, wierd). Almost 3x better than the truck I'm driving, and prolly 10x better handling and power...

Personally, I like the body on the Sky much better than the solstice.. I just can't get past that ugly ass grill... ick.

Yeah, i kinda agree, but in another way, i kinda like it. It will all depend on availability of either the Sky Redline or the Solstice GXP.

That's surprisingly good looking, for a Saturn. I usually hate their body styling.

Isn't there a waiting list, for the Solstice? I thought I heard that Pontiac was under producing them.

The GXP is the car i dream about everynight. I haven't figured out why saturn came out with the same car with a slightlly differnt look. Oh well camaro/firebird's were the same way and there a big hit(for me atleast)

Are you going away for school or staing at home? If your at home, ethir car would be great! If your going away, there is not too much room to pack ANYTHING!

I will be staying at home. All i need is my bookbag, and that can go in the passanger's seat. I have emailed a few dealers... The more i look, it looks like the chances of getting the Redline or GXP are slim, but if the order gets in soon enough, hopefully i'll have a chance.

I prefer the saturn to the pontiac. My neighbor has a white pontiac and while its a nice car it just doesn't stand out like the saturn.

I really do like the Saturn over the Pontiac, and it looks like I have a better chance of getting the Saturn, because there are less dealers for Saturn, which hopefully means more allocations per dealer. It is, however, one of the only sports cars that i can fit in. As some of you may know, I'm 6'5 310lbs, and i fit, and it seems comfortable. The miata and s2000 are too small for me (headroom and legroom), and the porsches and whatnot are too expensive. I feel it is a nice choice, and since I will be getting more gas milage than my current vehicle (about 2.5x more) i think it will be great... That is, if I can get ahold of one...

I agree with the prius. Not very sporty, but think of the mileage!!
But, If I was a college kid, I wouldn't want one either.

dam your parents must be rich to afford college and a car for you

personally i dont live over there but i was watching fox news and the said how much college was and that its really expensive

What about a 350z or RX-8? you can grab up either for mid-twenties. I don't even know what the Sky goes for....

Do they both get 30mpg? I doubt it... Didnt even bother with nissan or mazda... not enough head room in any of em...

Ratzo, i know, the prius is the king of gas milage, but you know how it is to be a kid... You want to look like a kid, not a millionare trying to pinch his pennies by getting 50mpg... lol 30mpg is fine for me, until gas hits $5... Then we're all screwed. :hehe:

Honda Fit? - Small, yet spacious inside. Plus, check out the mpg.

Mazda 3

Stay away from the RX-8's or RX anything!

They are not efficient at all and even though they state 1.3 litre etc, thats not the true number.

Mazda just recalled a bunch of RX-8's. Probably bad seals if I was to guess.

How about a late model sports car such as a Nissan 300Z? You can find a 95-96 for less than the costs of any of those newer cars and it will be very fun to drive. Non turbo 5 speed model is very good on gas.
