Nothing huge, but somehow, I broke my vice. Was trying to bend a hunk of flat iron using two round bars on one side and one bar in the middle in the back side. Then using the screw/squeeze of the vice to bend the flat bar.

Flat bar 1, vice 0.

Appears I bent the handle too... Didn't feel like I was twisting that hard.

Guess I know 1 thing I can ask my wife for for Christmas... lol! She bought me this one a few years back at lowes.

$50, from lowes. Not real expensive. Lasted quite a while. What sucks the most is that I'm going to have to clean off my bench to replace it... And the gouge in my forearm from when it snapped and I plowed my arm into it.

Gosh damn man! I bet that scared you lol, prolly a pretty good pop when it happened. A $50 vice from lowes should last pretty good, you must use it alot.

Chinese Crapola brand. Even though it's blue, I'm pretty sure it's not Kobalt. Take it back anyway and see if they will exchange it as defective.
I have NEVER seen a vice jaw snap off like that. Cheap casting.

Damn... I didn't know you could break a vise!! They sure don't make things like the used to.

That's the difference between cast iron and cast steel. Glad it was only that, the title had me wondering.

Sorry for your loss....I know I love mine...lol. Damn and for his next trick he going to break an anvil in a sand-pile:p:

What were you doing with it, making one of your frankencages, or modifying one of your bodies? :hehe:

No... was modifying my office chair... trying to bend the bar that holds the back. I don't like the angle. But apparently I have to live with it.

You should know, I can't leave anything stock. ;)

On the plus side, this means I get to replace it and now I know better what I want and how it should be mounted. I wonder if those ones that rotate hold up very well. Like these: http://www.lowes.com/pd_210019-5280..._prd_lis_ord_nbr|0||p_product_quantity_sold|1

Nice picture of SNG, Rob.

Glad to hear that you didn't hurt anything but your pride, Olds. Isn't it true that if you break something that means it needed to be upgraded anyway?
