My son 8yrs old got a new rustler bout a week ago, so yesterday we took it on some dirt with about a 5ft dirt jump, after about 4 jumps his rear shock cap came off the shock. Shock oil everywhere. Nothing broke however I lost the rubber boot that's inside the shock. Seems the cap just pulled apart from the shock. Is this common?

Very common with the stock plastic ultra shocks.

Aluminum caps will help, Big bore shocks are a better option.

Ok, so another shock cap broke off yesterday of my sons rustler. Time for new shocks, and towers. What should I get. Keep in mind that my 8yr old drives the truck.

Does anyone make an aluminum shock tube that you can use the stock internals. Or even a better/harder plastic. Trying to keep the price down on the shock thing.

Look on here, the Slash Ultimate has Big Bores, $48 shipped for a full set with dual rate springs.

Ok, so I'm looking at the big bore shocks my kids rustler. Should I go with the traxxas shocks or another company?

From what I've heard the Proline Powerstrokes are better but they are also more expensive, in an earlier post you said you wanted to keep the price down, I would just get the Traxxas Big Bores from E-Bay. The Traxxas are just below $50 and the Proline will be just below $80.
