NC where did you play in the snow??? aren't you in sebring?

Where have you been for the last 3 months, lol. I was in Sebring for the past 4 years, but now live in NY, Long Island. The snow pics were taken when I lived in North Carolina, hence the name NCNitro. That was when I lived in Statesville, north of the I-40 corridor we got some pretty nice snows. That day was a blast! I am looking forward to the first snowfall here, get to do a little more snow bashing.

OOOOOOOHHHHHHH KAAAY.....yeah I've been away a lil lately.....don't sit infront of a PC all day anymore so I just pop in here and there.......

I was hoping to get down o run with you before I left but unfortunately that never happened. Maybe next year you can make it up here for the ECB.

If I'm working again I should be able to...the way things are looking down here the job market is pretty tough.....I've gotten job offers all over the country but nothing here locally I wanted to accept....might have to lower my expectations and suck it up soon......I got a killer offer in CT but I'm stuck here for child custody reasons.....I got 4 more years till I can take the kid up north....then hopefully we can bash all the time......

That's pretty cold... it's only 14F. That's almost 20 below freezing. I don't try to run if it's below 30F (-1C) and that's with inner tube wrapped around the head. Even then, my big blocks run really inconsistent. My trx2.5 runs ok at 30f though. Probably more because I don't care if it runs well, just so long as it runs.

You can run these engines in some pretty cold weather if you do things right. There has already been some solid advice given in this thread. One thing I would add would be to pre-heat the engine and block. A hair dryer or heat gun is a good tool for this. When I have the opportunity to run in the snow, I usually put the hairdryer on the engine for a few minutes prior to starting. That helps prevent the engine from having thermal fatigue issues. On the backside, I use the hair dryer to keep the engine warm for a little before letting it go completely cold.

RCs can be run in just about every environment given enough prep and care.

Here's a couple shots of mine in the mud...for example:

You will need to adjust your carb settings.

You may want to put a little more oil on the filter element of your air filter, to help prevent water intrusion through the filter if any ice or snow accumulates around the engine and then gets melted.

If for some strange reason you are running without any kind of air filter, you will want to add one.
