I had to take out the oneway bearing on my 25 engine rotostart friday cause it wouldnt catch to turn the engine anymore. I replaced it with a new one and oiled it real good....Sunday I went to race in tyler...got to the track 30 minutes early to look it over because every 4 weeks they change the layout of the track...I started my savage to make a slow lap on the track & get it warmed up then killed the engine....15 minutes later it was racetime....I went to restart my engine & it wouldnt start for nothing which costed me a race that day.....the new bearing just kept slipping on the shaft like the bearing wasn't ever there.....Are there such a thing as over oiling a oneway bearing or just geting a bad one new in the package ?

well i have never oiled my one way cause it causes it to slip try taking it out and cleaning it really good with da or fuel and then dry it and try it again if it doesn't work then you might need a new shaft that the one way goes on hope it helps

outch!! hope i dont need a new shaft...aint had but allmoast a gallon of fuel run in the engine so far & the shaft looked good....measured the same as the measurements in the book too...

I don't normally oil my One Way. I just spray it with some DA and the re-install. When I run my ride, It gets greasy on its own from the mill.

had the same problem dude, It was oil getting in there and causing it to slip. Clean up the bearing, don't oild and take some high temp silicone and seal the edges of the rotostart. Solved my problem.

A truck I also learned --maybe not on an Savy but on the shaft is to use a little but of ScotchBrite to LIGHTLY scuff it a bit and use AA TOUCH of WD-40 on the bearing---it is not good to have too much oil on it but it is not good to have it dry either--that is what wears the needles down-you can not depend on the grime from the motor to lube it, and if you want here is another trick but sometimes it is not the way to go depending on how you run your truck---here it is find the center of your roto backplate and drill a small hole for the straw of WD-40 or some kind of cleaner or nitro spray... but if you are running it through the mud and crap that will get into it it might not be wise.

Ok this is weired....I took the engine out of the truck & took the rotostart/bearing off the engine, cleaned all the oil off, put it back on the engine and tried it.....it worked every time i used the wand.....I put the engine back in the savage & tried to start it & it just slipped even though I also replaced the starter shaft.....I'm thinkin about a realy big hammer right about now

i figgured out the problem finnaly.......the thing had a crack in the bearing but only seen it when i looked at it under a high powered magnifyer
