8 – 6 = 2
8 + 6 = 2
7 + 6 = _

If the first 2 equations are true, what is the answer to the last equation?

Explain your answer so I know you aren't just guessing.

8 – 6 = 2
8 + 6 = 2
7 + 6 =
I believe it would be 1.

8 - 6 = 2 We already know that this IS true.
8 + 6 = 2 We know this to be mathematically incorrect, but
it establishes the pattern for the next equation.

7 - 6 = 1 (following the order of the first example) We know
this to be true.
7 + 6 = 1

i say 1 because if 8+6=2 than 7+6 should equal one less than two or 1

actually it could have to do with the sign ( + / - )
first one you leave it
second one you flip it to make it correct
and the third you have to leave the sign to make it correct
so my new answer is 13

Lets wait for hints, this one had me stumped for a while though.

Here's your box of rocks. You're HOW blonde?

I agree with Candyman, and also with Ryan if the driver is included.

Sweet. My own Pet Rock army. I shall commence war with the Dirt Clod armada at once! Our battle cry shall be "all your mud are belong to us!".

:spit:

Seriously.... These are some great brainteasers. Keep 'em up!

Nobody has the reasoning correct behind the correct answer of 1.

Tell me why 1 is the correct answer.

No other riddles until the last one is answered correctly with an explanation of why since it could just be guessed at.

Rob - doubting it but does the +6 = the answer -12?
8+6 = 14 -12 = 2
7+6 = 13 -12 = 1
Once again doubt it but if it is there should be another negative example to set a pattern, I need beer it's been a long SLOW day at work.

*****TGIF and TGFRCNT

WTF a few posts just dissapeared??

The correct answer is 1.

I still have yet to see the reasoning behind the answer.

Do you guys need a hint?

Also, posts are missing because somebody started another riddle before mine was answered correctly AND complete with a correct explanation why. I removed references to the other riddle because it makes a mess of the thread.

Ahh cool - I thought my browser was freaking out for a minute but didn't quite explain it..
I'd like a hint it's going to bug me now but work just finished and there's ice cold free beer to be drunk :) I'll check in again over the weekend (between testing my new front diff of course) to see the answer, this is an awesome thread I'm gutted I missed most of it!.
Cheers Guys,
T.

You look at the logic behind the answer every single day. Just about everybody does.

The numbers are the hours on a clock?

8 o'clock - 6hrs = 2 o'clock
8 o'clock + 6hrs = 2 o'clock
7 o'clock + 6hrs = 1 o'clock

Correct.

So.....

8:00 – 6:00 = 2:00
8:00 + 6:00 = 2:00
7:00 + 6:00 = 1:00

Here is a message..

_ is 1,000 times _ _

To turn this message into a proper sentence, you need to insert a single letter of the alphabet into the blanks.

What is the letter?

You need to use the same letter for all 3 blanks.

You da man!

You have a female rabbit.

If it can produce a baby bunny every 2 days, how many bunnies will you have after an regular year (non leap year)?

Only the original single female rabbit can reproduce.
