hi all got my wee boy a rex-x for his xmas and we have crashed already after repairing suspension spring arm we were going to test outside but radio dosent seem to be working while messing about with receiver can get the wheels and car to move when standing near the car everything moves itself any advice would be great as me and wee boy are newbies to all this thanks

Make sure you are using fully charged batteries for both the receiver and transmitter. Also make sure the receiver antenna wasn't damaged during the crash.

If both of the above check out OK, it is possible the crash caused a loose connection between the receiver antenna and receiver itself. You will need to open the receiver case to check for sure.

thanks for reply

yes brand new batteries is there anything else i could be other than receiver i dont mind buying 1 just dont want to then find out its something else thanks

If you stand near the car and everything works but doesn't work when you step away, the only thing I can think of is a loose connection between the antenna wire and the receiver. Open it up and look inside. It can easily be soldered back on if it has broken loose.

This is the most obvious cause to the problem you are describing and needs to be eliminated before moving on.

The receiver or servos didn't happen to get wet did they?

opened receiver

yes opened it and when playing about with it noticed if i put my finger over the solders the control was working further away

Do you make physical contact to them? If you do then you are becoming the "external antenna" I would check to make sure all the batteries are charged or full. Once verified, turn both on( just the electronics). Start being next to it, then take steps away while trying to control it. Do you lose communication to it?

The crash must have jarred something loose.

I am not familiar with the RC you have, but if you have room in your receiver box, wrap the receiver with some foam to insulate it from shock.

Jon, he states the batts are brand new.

i hope not to crash it again

well think i might just buy a receiver think everything is pointing towards that messed about with the wire nothing but as soon as i touch the solders it is working

1 last thing guys

has there ever been an issue with any types of battery when i say they are new the mrs bought them today from our local shop they were energizer which are a good make was just thinking of other possibilities before i buy the receiver

I would put in a different set of batts just to be sure. You never know.

Do you have a local hobby shop you could take it to? They may have a receiver laying around that can be tested in your RC.
