Well I think I'm being sucked back into my old hobby. Salt Water Aquaria.... Went and picked up a 58 gallon Oceanic Drilled tank today with a 20G tank for a sump and a stand for 50 bucks :) Anyway I got it all cleaned up here is the pics.

dont you mean your other hobby, 58 gallon bong? lol jk. looks nice and what a steal!

Sweet I love fish tanks I got a 75 gal jebo tank now but it is just fresh water maybe sometime down the raod you can help me switch it up to salt. It would be a good time for me to switch cause I am getting ready to move and there is only a few fish in it. Yeah got to love a nice ass tank!!!!!!!!!

Ya the conversion is a CONVERSION can't really use much you had for fresh.

lol ya maybe a little although it is a Losi so it can go pretty much anywhere ;)

Yeah I know. I am just tired of fresh tho I had this tank for years and a 25 gl for years when I was a teen and I all ways wanted to go salt. I had so many fresh water fish over the years and they are not half as nice as salt. I think I could use the same filter but will need to buy all new stuff for the in side. I hear that once you get a salt water tank up and running it is easyer to keep clean is this true?

It's easier to keep clean but way more maintenance than freshwater. You'll need to check your pH every day, especially if you have fish other than Yellow Tangs or puffers (which are tough little bastards). Most saltwater fish are much more fragile to variations in temp/pH/etc than freshwater. The reason you see so many tangs, puffers, or clown wrasse's are because they are very hardy species.

The hardest part of a saltwater tank is finding the right combination of fish. Unlike freshwater where you can get away without having bottom feeders like plecostomus, saltwater needs the filtration help. Shrimp, anemones, etc all are good ideas... just figuring out which ones won't eat the others is fun :)

Figuring out what foods to use also requires more thought. You can't just pop in some flakes and call it good. You'll probably need to have a couple different food options. Tangs and angelfish are herbivores so you'll need to have dried or fresh algae. The carnivores can go with brine shrimp, bloodworms, etc.

Forget about breeding. Ever. It's just too much of a pain in the ass unless you have *lots* of experience breeding freshwater fish.

Its very true. It actually takes care of itself if it gets stocked properly. Its getting it established that takes time and care. After about a year the only thing you should need to do is like a bi weekly 10 or 20% water change and test regularly.

It does sound like alot more work but at the end the tank is 1000 % nicer then a fresh water one. Another draw back is the cost of salt water fish and live coral! I have a friend that is really into salt water tanks who will be brought in on this project if I ever switch over.

One of my blue lobsters eating my shark I was lucky enough to watch him catch and eat the whole thing these blue lobsters have ate alot of fish now the little basterds!

I was going to say I want some when I get a FW but not after hearing that haha.

They must of ate 75$ worth of fish and the lobsters them selfs are not cheep at all! But they look nice. I really would like to go salt but by the time I bought sand, coral and the chems I think it would cost like five hundred just to get it switched over. Maybe just maybe tho cause I am kinda board with the fresh.

ya I was adding up everything I need and am at about 1200 or so with everything.

Yeah I know I was light on the 5 bills just trying to be modest if I tell myself how much it will really cost I will get scared and not do it. After reading over at AA man there is so many options with this I am going to study up for a good bit on this one. It is not like going down to the LHS and picking up a new rig rtr! I guess when it gets to be to cold to want to be out side and play I will play with the tank for the winter if I can wait that long lol. Here comes a new/old money pit!!!!!!!!!!
