3 turns out hsn and 1 turn lsn is way too lean, even on a humid 93 degree day. You need to make sure it's a hot glow plug...and what fuel are you using?

Split in fuel line ? I had that problem in my Savage last week. Take your line off and block one end with your finger and then blow down it while wiggling it to see if its pin holed anywhere :)

The fuel line is all new, but I'll check it to be sure. I am running the stock Traxxas 3232 plugs, and also tried O'Donnell ODO100, both medium heat. I've running Blue Thunder Sport Blend 20%.

A little history on this engine,....... I bought the 5309RTR in April this year. After 2 gallons of fuel (one was O'donnell R2R 20%, the other Blue Thunder Sport 20%) the motor gave up. The connecting rod started to give way and I had alot of trash on the piton and head. Exchanged it through Traxxas, and borke the new 3.3 per Traxxas instructions. I could never get this engine tuned properly, and replaced it with the Picco maxx. Ended up buying a roller 5309 and built the second truck using this engine. I've gone back to stock needle settings three different times, with the same results. Will not run without an igntor. It has less than 3/4 of gallon through it.

Your fuel and plug choices are both hurting you. If you like O'donnell fuel try the "race blend" with a little less oil than what you're using. You should also switch to a hot plug. The plug helps idling characteristics and the fuel burns much better without sacrificing engine longevity, in fact it will last longer! You'll be amazed at how much difference a few % less oil will make in the way stuff runs.

Well, got some OS LC3 "hot" plugs and some 25% O'Donnell race blend. We'll see how it goes. LHS suspects something w/the engine. Timw will tell.

Well, LC3 hot and O'Donnell race blend 25%, at stock needle settings got her running. Started tuning and so far, so good. I haven't got all the bugs out yet, once and a while a stall after a high speed run, and idle is still a little low, but at least I can do something other than run down igniter and starter batteries. Let you know how things go tomorrow. Thanks!

A little more Tuning

Even though she is running and idling, I checked compression. Consistantly above 60psi, so my speculations were wrong. I can get idle for a minute or more, high speed passes did have a slight bog after second gear, but got passed that! Now the only issue is, after a HS pass, idle stays right, but then drops slightly, and sometimes she'll quit, and not want to restart. Which way to go now? I'm close, but no cigar. Damn this thing is sensitive!
