apon pulling it apart the wire snapped,so i got my iron out and soldered it back together now i've got about 30 metres range

I dont quite understand what you mean by frayed wire's on the antenna..

If you mean the antenna on the hand held remote / This is Rare that that would ever fray I have 2 TRX 2.4 Gig systems & that has never happend to me & the antenna should not fray unless you droped your remote a few times..

If it's your RX wire on your Rig "witch are short to begin with on a 2.4 Gig system" it is possable it could be damaged from IE crashes / running without body / ESC not properly fastend to chassis / Alot of hard landing's from jumps "but rare jumping damages a RX wire"

You can get NEW 2.4 Gig TRX hand held remotes from your HS I think thay run about $ 90.00

& RX / ESC combo's with wire already installed into ESC run about $ 49.00
I could be off on prices "it's only a top off my head figure"
Hope this help you out

its the wire coming from the reciever it has snapped near the crimp nut
new traxxas rx cost me bout $35 from amain

Have you checked the Traxxas website? They should tellvyou if one's available, if not, Woodie is selling a new Traxxas 2.4 ghz setup.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using Tapatalk 2

If they dont sell just the wire. Id invest in a Flysky GT3B. You cna get the TX/RX combo for $40 and RXs are only $7.50. Its a great basher radio and there are several mods that can be done to it to make it even better :)

just checked the traxxas site ,no joy there so if anyone know how or has replaced a rx antenna i'd love to know

it's difficult to replace the wire, near impossible. different 2.4 systems use different length wires for tuning. some traxxas receivers use a plug to plug into the board others have the wires soldered to the board. using too much solder or not enough can cause low range same with soldering wire to wire.
You can get a replacement from traxxas at a repair cost, Whatever that cost is, but adding shipping costs and repair it's sometimes cheaper to buy a new receiver from ebay.
Or buy a new 2.4 system.
There was one person claimed to repaired one, But 2weeks later he was off showing his brand new receiver off so i guess the repair never actually worked.

So much easier with the old am radio, you could even join it and not have a problem
guess ill have to buy a new one sending it to traxxas would prob cost more than what its worth

probably, But check into the prices it may be different now. They might ask to send yours in and they send a new one out. and with 2.4 it uses two wires, the centre core and the braid, similar to your television aerial but on a minute scale. But yep old am has some advantages.
just checked it's $20 for replacement, not including shipping.
Ebay is is about same. not including shipping.
