Wondering if anyone has had to modify a chasis on a redcat
to get a starter box to reach the flywheel to reach the starter box wheel. I love the redcat monsoon and hurricane. The sh .28 engine are simple to tune and they are tough. Does anyone else run redcat?

i have a hurricane xtr & it runs & drives great. alot of guys on here don't like redcat but i haven't had any problems with mine other than upgrades are almost non existant. It's ok with me the hurricane is my beater & it takes it pretty good. never tried to put starter box on sorry. should be someone on here that can help. lots of people on here with good knowledge

Well i'm gonna open up the hole under the flywheel for this starter box to work. I'll let you know how it goes. I have found redcatracingshop.com have some upgrades. I will stick with redcat we don't have any real problems with them. We always out run and out handle my dads losi truggy. And also found out that sh engines make the .28 for losi.

SH (a sub division of Golden Lion) makes engines for many different companies. They also have widely varying quality standards depending on who they are making the engine for.

If your outrunning/outhandling a Losi with a redcat then the guy driving the losi doesn't know what hes doing. (no offense) I dont think anybody would try to argue the fact the Losi is head and shoulders above redcat in terms of both quality and engineering innovation.

As for your original question I'm assuming your current setup your using was meant to be bump started? Which kit are you referring to? Did it come with a bump box? Did you get it new? Did it come with the SH .28 stock? Are you using the stock flywheel? Need more info to try and answer that question.

Well compairing the redcat and losi 1/8 truggies side by side i see some things i like better on each one. My redcats have a pull starter on the stock sh.28 engines. No they did not come with a bump starter. I just bought a new bsd bump starter. It's a universal box. Yes i am running a stock flywheel. The wheel on the bump starter is a hair to big to fit through the stock hole in the bottom of the chasis.

Your kit doesn't sound like it was designed to be started with a bump starter. I honestly dont know about trying to convert one to work with a bump start. Never tried. Someone else will have to speak to that question.
