There are two bolts on the front hub assembly on my Storm, specifically the ones that go through the front hub carrier into the steering knuckle (one from the top and one from the bottom).
If these bolts are too tight it binds the steering so it's a comprimise between tight enough and not too tight. So, instead of using the usual blue loctite I used the red. I figured that the red would give me a good hold on what would be a loosely tightened bolt. While getting things ready for the weekend I decided to take apart the front end and oil/prep everything. I had heard that the red was a bear to get off and anticipated stripping or breaking something. But no, they came out just as if I had used the blue. All the metal was thoroughly cleaned before using and the specific type I used was PACER Z-71 Premium Red Thread Locker. Maybe the brand name "Loctite" in the red might be better.

I personally like red. It works better with flat head screw drivers and allen heads. Red is the only loc tite I use, mainly cause my dad gets big bottles like this free from work.

generally when someone says red loctite they are talking about the brand Loc-tite. lesser brands usually are not as strong.

The Brand Loctite is the best to use. I've done extensive testing during my engineering work on different brands. There is no equal to Loctite. Properly applied Loctite can only be removed by heat over 300 degrees.

My impact gun seems to work fine with no need of rising temp.

International Paper Mill

It's the 2nd best union in my area. He's been there for a couple of years and is like getting paid 20 bucks/hour. Remember this is damn Alabama if that sounds low. Most average jobs in my area are between 7 and 10 dollars not to mention there are now jobs because of lay off but damnI got way off topic.

Yeah they are alot of bottles. We gave one just like it to RS$3Drifter too.

Here some of the thigns he gets me. This is just a few we still have a shelve full of random stuff.

He's good friends with people in maintainence and they give him stuff for pretty much no reason.

Also, I have baught engine bolts or set screw for anything but a back plate since i started RC. He brings home large cups with every size in it. I love my dad.:hi:

That LPS is AWESOME!
I love it but one time I srapyed a full bottle with alot of pressure and it hit me back in my eye and started burning really bad, thank god I didnt hvae my contacts in as that stuff attacks plastic.

Well if Red loc tite is supposed to be the strongest I dunno what the deal was with some green poop i picked up. IT was supposed to be a medium strength thread locker. Well huh, I spent more time with the dremel in my hands because of that crap. I had to make the switch to some blue stuff. Now I am using the duratrax thread locker Blue can't tell if it's working or not.

What did you use the green on?

So far, the only thing I have used the green on was my setscrew in the tranny of my Savage. Its a penetrating semi-permanent thread lock. The reason for the green is so you could apply it AFTER the parts are together. Thats it.

Blue should be all you use for the parts you plan on taking apart.

Green is stronger than blue, almost as strong as the red. It is designed to be able to seep into the threads, after assembly. I was at Disneyland, and they were brushing it on all the bolts that hold the rides together.

That's reassuring. It's not spit and tape that hold those things together anymore, huh.

Tough call on using the green. A 60 year old lady was killed at Disneyland a couple of months ago when something on a ride came apart. (Gotta' say though, their safety record is one of the best)
I'm sticking with the blue. It works fine for me.

LOL Yeah I just thought threadlock was thread lock but that green is some tough poop. I used it on some motor mount screws from underneath the chassis to the motor mount and damn I had one hell of a time getting them out. Also before I knew my theory with thread lock was the more the merrier so I just coated the whole damn screw. LOL I learned my lesson.
