If you're serious about the hobby, you will do well to invest in a good charger. I am using a DuraTrax Intellipeak Ice charger that can handle pretty much all my batteries. I use 600 mAh NiCd's right now for my tx, but I'm about to invest in some 2400 mAh NiMH's from www.teamfasteddy.com. I use a lot of AA batts not only in my transmitters, but in my video game controllers and digital cameras, so I like to have decent batteries. I also use an 8-battery cradle to charge my batteries in. With the Ice, you can charge 8 batteries in an hour and they'll last quite a while.

i use energizer 2500 Mah Ni-MH AA rechargeables, and if you got like a sams club or BJs around your area, you can get a nice set of them with the charger for around $30 bucks. i have enough for 2 Txs, and for my 2 x box 360 controlers and 4 Wii controlers.

I like the Energizer Lithium batteries for my TX, it's the TQ3 also. I've tried both energizer and duracell rechargeables and I think there is a difference in how long the run time is with the Lithium ones. They are a little more expensive, but to me they are worth the extra $$.

Edited cause I apparently was smoking crack last night, the Energizer Lithium are not rechargeable batteries.
