I think it will as long as you used airtronics specific crystals. i have studies up on that same rx.= a little bit.

Oh you can't use the Hitec crystal that they recomend?

I've used that hitec Rx with my old M8 just use the airtronics crystals and you should be good..

So does this mean that as long as you use compatible crystals any combo of TX/RX should work? I would really like to use my Hi-Tek RX with my Futaba TX...

Read down in the description........here's what it says....

REQUIRES: Hitec single conversion crystals HRCL29**

I dont know about using Airtronics brand crystals, I wouldn't try it but........it might work............I would go with what crystal they recommend using, which is one from Hitec..........just my :2cents:

Yeah, I saw that. I've been bidding on a couple novak xxtra synth receivers the past 4 days. Someone keeps sniping me though...

According to novak's description at their site, the xxtra is compatible with airtronics stuff. If all else fails, I'll just buy the stupid thing from tower as they seem to be the cheapest. I checked all over the net and everyone is selling the Novak XXtra 75Mhz for $90-$100 while tower is selling it for $66.

The difference in FM RX's is that Futaba and Hitec work together and JR, Airtronics and KO work with each other. The reason for this is in the RX's they use phase shifting for transmitting and receiving. One company uses positive phase shifting and one uses negative so of course a positive will work with a positive and same with negative. Now this is only when it comes to 75Mhz FM. 27Mhz FM any manufacturer will work with any and the same with 75/27Mhz AM.

The reason they say to use matching crystals is the fact that they are matched from the factory to work together. Even though it says the same number between two manufacturers one could have a different tolerance and not be in total sync with the other crystal causing them not to work or have issues.

As for the Xxtra working with all radio's the reason for this is the first dial is set so 6-9 on the upper side will work with Hitec/Futaba and the 6-9 on the lower side will work with all the rest. If you have an airtronics and use the upper 6-9 you will find it won't work because the phase shifts aren't the same.

Just letting you know, the MX-3 75MHZ FM works just fine with the Novak XXtra 75MHZ FM ($65). It's the combo I have in my revo. It's a cheaper way to use my MX-3 without buying the receiver airtronics makes ($85).
