Kwong - How could a piston and sleeve wear out that quick? I checked mine and it is still tight, can't push the piston that far up. But I have only ran two tanks thru . Maybe the sleeve is nickel plated instead of chrome. Keep us posted.

DID YOU NOT READ WHAT I SAID? airplane / heli engines dont have as much compression, they use piston rings and stuff, and they last 30 gallons with NO compression. read up dude, goto like.. google and search.

hopefull this is the case kwong, does it still run/ run hard?

It runs about as hard as my worn 8 port. It's to the point where it won't pull wheelies. Trust me, it needs a rebuild.

Razor - Did you not see how far out the piston was sticking from the sleeve?? Don't even try to tell me that is normal even for a heli or airplane engine. Something is up that is why Kwong's truck is not pulling wheelies.

I forgot to call them on monday, but remembered to call on Tuesday. They basically said to just leave a note on what the problem is, with the motor and the proof of purchase and they'll basically decide if they'll cover it under warranty.

It should arrive at HB on Friday and i'll probably know next week what the outcome is. I hope they give me a new one or at least rebuild the current one since i have no money to pay for a new engine.

Truckzilla

Kwong - They should give you another motor immediatly. Do you think you may have gotten a used motor?

Truckzilla

Keep us posted Kwong. I guess if my motor bites it I will just put my big block 26 back in. I hope you get something worked out with Hb.

Run my truckzilla today!!

I finally got to run my truckzilla yesterday!! Everything went fine I used kwong's tip about using a glove for the pullstart, no blisters!! I am still breaking it in , it seems to be as fast as my picco 26 was, and it is still running rich!! If it pulls the front up any further it is going to be popping wheelies.

I was trying to call Hot Bodies all day yesterday, but no one picked up. I probably called 50 times...no joke, I have the phone number memorized

Anyhoo, called them today for a status report on the engine. They said that whoever deals with the engines, he wasn't in, and they'll probably be sending the engines out late this week.

So it'll be awhile. I'll definitely be bugging them again on Friday.

I hate downtime...but I still have my ntc3 and am in the process of finding an electric tc3...so no worries.

YIkes!! Kwong you called them 50 times ?? Man , they are blowing it!! They had a good idea with the conversion kit but poor execution and customer service may be it's downfall.:depress:

I know that this "customer service" has been the same for a few folks, enough that I would steer clear of HB at all costs if I could.

I hope you get it figured out kwong, and I hope that HB gets their poop together

The thing that gets me about them, is it's kinda like, oh, they answer phones when it's convenient to them. Also, I found that they have approximatly 3 people working with ALL the warranty claims!!!

Three people is not enough. Especially on a national level.

I just want my engine back either rebuilt, or a new one all together.

Truckzilla

Kwong - Only three people answering the phone ? No wonder it takes so long ! I hope everything works out for you Kwong. And I hope they improve their customer service.

Well it's I believe there's one secretary, then three guys that work the warranty department.

Because when I called the first time, I had a second question and called back a few minutes later, only to get a secretary lady who said there's three guys that work in warranty.

And then there's an "operator" lady. So it's like 5 people for ALL of customer service....although, I could be wrong, but that was just my impression.

Id like to hear from others with the the truckzilla as well. I got a kit coming this week. Bought it at Ultimate hobbies for $269 shipped with tires. They still have them in stock if anyone is interested.

HN (I wouldn't dare type it), I also have a Zilla and on my 7th tank of nitro. Still in break in, as the instructions say 10-12 tanks for breaking in. Will probably do some more serious bashing this weekend now that weather is starting to get milder.
Good luck on yours.
:hehe:

@Harrynuts thnx for the info, just ordered mine last night and will be getting mine on saturday hopefully. but they charged me 20$ for the tax. I'm here in CA. Maybe that's why. :doc:

Okay guys, finally some good news. They looked at the engine one Wednesday and sent me out a new one. I got a tracking number and it should arrive on Monday.

I'm happy now...but I don't think i'll be doing business with Hot Bodies anymore...I just can't stand getting the run-around all the time.

I'll tell you what, this last time on the phone, I was about ready to start screaming at the guy if I didn't hear what I wanted to hear.
