Well I got the Truckzilla today. Ordered it about 3-4 weeks ago. As soon as I got it, I took pictures of the box then got started on it. It only took me 2 hours to put the whole think together. But it helped that the savage was in pieces.

I started break in almost imediately after build completion. It started right away. The pullstart isn't as bad as people think it is, just get a glove and you'll be fine. Although my arm is really tired.

I did have problems with the idle, factory was too high and I was smelling the clutch burning, then it went too low. Also, the mixtures weren't set properly so I had to fiddle with them. Took me a good 20 minutes to get the right settings with maximum richness.

After getting everything setup right, I found I was too tired to run a whole tank. I only got about an 1/8 tank through. I need a nap.

Thansk for the compliments.

I'm trying a new break in method. Instead of idle tanks, i'm just running up the engine. But not giving it a whole lot of gas though. This way it isn't such a boring break in.

Truckzilla

Kwong - What kind of new break in method are you talking about? Are you running it around on the ground with a rich setting checking the temperature to make sure it does not go over 250 degrees? Just curious:bling:

Can you take a shot from the rear angle and side angle of the exhaust header. I'm really diggin the way the header doesn't mash up against the TVP's.

Looks great man!

I dunno, i'm just making it up as I go along. I know my temps didn't go over 170.

Sweet dude,

Yeah, I can imagine that engine is a biotch to break in (I'd definitely want a bump or roto-start for that) but I bet she's gonna scream like a Virgin on Prom night when she's broken in. I'll definitley be looking forward to vids (hint, hint).

Peace

Truckzilla

Kwong - Thanks anyway good luck. Your glove idea is a good one for pullstart I think I am goint to used that one on my truckzilla. I had to turn the plug counterclockwise to relieve some compression to get my motor to start took about 3 yanks. But there is so much snow where I live I have not been able to complete break in.:depress:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW, I haven't even ordered my savage and I already want a truckzilla! You guys are gonna get me in trouble with the wife! :help:

Looks great Kwong!!! I'm really interested to hear how you like it and the amount of power it has. I was at my LHS today and they had a brand new savage21 with the Truckzilla with wheels already installed and were selling it for 600 dollars. Also for that price you get all the stock parts with it including the 21 motor,so I'm kinda thinking i might need another savage.....:naughty:

Nice. I just got my SS kit this week. Maybe I should get the Truckzilla Kit and sell all the leftovers on ebay.

Nitrohead, using 2 washers under the plug during break-in helps too.

Nice Job!

It's too clean, though. You need to put it in the oven and bake some greasy mud on it.

Then it'll look like your truck.

For anyone planning on getting the kit:

Few things I noticed about the conversion kit. First is that you need to put a spacer or shim between the clutch nut and the bearing on the clutch bell since the clutch bell wasn't fully free when I spun it.

Also, they didn't tighten down teh bolt holding on the clutch bell so you gotta tighten it down and put locktite on it also.

Make sure to locktite the screws on the motor mounts also since those were kinda lose and no loctite.

When you first start it up, watch the idle cuz my clutch was engaging and it burned so fast. It spelt exactly like a normal car too.

You can see a full Truckzilla review here.

So far it's been a pretty good conversion. Handling is a lot better for some reason. I did some pretty decent jumps for giving practically no throttle. Only thing I need for the car is some better springs, mine are way too soft and worn.

I'll try to have the engine broken in by Monday but I got a lot of fun activities this weekend so we'll have to see.

Here's a little report on my break-in adventures so far:

It's been hell. I'm only about 1.5 tanks into break in. First tank was smooth sailing once the setting were right, this need one hasn't gone so well.

First it was giving me the feeling the LSN was WAY on the rich side, so I leaned it, then BOOM, it's super lean AND my temps went really high, probably in the 280-300 range (didn't measure it). Fixed it by putting it rich

Then get this, when I gassed it, on low rpm, it's rich, then goes lean about mid way through, then super rich on the top end. I dunno if I should try messing with the mid speed needle at all.

Truckzilla - Today

Hey Kwong - I agree with you it does sound like the mid range needle valve was not adjusted correctly from the factory. I would give hot bodies a call on Monday to find out what the factory setting is suppose to be.
