Does anybody know the difference between the two types of tires offered? I've done a tad bit of testing between the two and the difference is quite subtle. I was just wondering what you guys have experienced.

I've tried both as well and not noticed a difference. I just leave them on std but would like to know what/where a difference would be used.

I'm back up and running now...I think. I installed my vrc soft ware onto my new computer yesterday too and it doesn't list the v3 adapter as an option for some reason..but its working on v1.

The slow Ai's made a big difference, it seems like I have to pass one on almost every turn which screws up my line. It was easier when they were the same speed as us.

To me it seems that the MR tires have just slightly more grip but the STD tires ha e a more progressive feel. I've been configuring my current oval setup with the MR's and switched to STD in the rear which made it slightly more comfortable. That's just my take.

Made my first run. Seemed to be alot better in practice, didn't help that I clocked an AI crossing the start line on the first lap, then on the second pit I got nailed about three times by AI cars before I hit the back stretch. Felt like a good run overall though.

Note to self: When you think you can do better, stop, because you still suck.

I was so confident that I could make a better run, so I tried. Second run I did worse, third only did slightly worse. Still at 62 laps.

Don't kick yourself too hard alien, did you notice you have the fast lap so far? And it's a FAST lap too,I think it'll be hard to beat.

Wow! and 808! I can't touch that.

For whatever reason I don't seem to be able to hit fast laps like you guys are notching in. I guess I sort of bank on consistant laps. I learned a couple years ago that you really have to pace yourself in these races. I learned to be aware of my comfort zone throught the race. If I'm not feeling very confident I'm happy to keep knocking off 7.1s and .2s. When I'm feeling comfortable and my car is predictable is the only time I really push perfecting the line in order to gain time.

Setting up the car so you can actually "race" is ultra important too. I was working on my setup earlier today (yesterday actually) and noticed that if I had to back our of the throttle to avoid pushing up into another car on exit that my car was NOT turning any better and thus I was having trouble avoiding collisions. I made a small adjustment and made my car react better to my throttle inputs in that situation. That's the kind of stuff that keeps you alive at the end. My cars don't seem to have the speed but they have drivability that I'm comfortable with.

It does count. Personally I agree with Randy that the half point should go to the fast lap of an official run but at the moment the fastest lap is the fastest lap no matter which run you put it down on.

Wow, 4 tenths overall eh? Cool. I don't think I can touch that. I just can't find the speed in the setup.

I wish Jeff was around for this

I drove one of Jeff's setup a couple years ago. At the time the setup was not up my alley but I think I could handle it now. I cannot figure out how the hell he got it to turn like he did. All I remember is that his setup was flat out in 3 and 4 like your supposed to be except that you COULD NOT have the steering maxed out. I don't know how your setup is but my steering is always maxed in 3 and 4 unless I'm like 2 inches off the inner curb and the grip is 100%+. I feel like if I could get my car to turn through 3 and 4 without so much steering I would scrub off less speed and be able to float through there faster.

If I'm down low near the apron,no I can't stay locked on the steering. I have to be real careful, up the embankment some and I have to stay locked to stay off the wall. I do have the steering limited to 25* though on the high grip setups.
