It can go lower :)

speaking of things to thank me for... I've changed the AI speed for the remainder of the road course events this season. The AI cars speed will be more in-line with you and I Jeff. This will slow us down considerably and create better competition I'm hoping. I wish I could split up the AI cars speed though. That would be nice. Maybe have four of them faster than the other two. Maybe V4 will have that option when it's released sometime in the next 3 years....*eyeroll*

It's pretty cheap these days. I know my LHS has a disk I'm sure they'd love to darn near giveaway. If I recall they have a 50% off tag on it. However, it's Hobbytown so that still might not be that good of a deal the way they market their prices. At any rate, we'd love to have you join in the fun bro :) maybe pocket some cash too! Nothin' wrong with that!

I was looking at it online. just getting the pistol controller set from vrc online. My hobby shop is really small and they mostly deal with planes, with the exception of the track they built last month, so they dont have anything like that. I read in an earlier post your using a 3PK? Hows that work with the game? Plus Ill be getting a new lap top sometime soon... This is the one I'm looking at..

Well that sucked.

Practice I was able to be between 21 and 23 consistently. My first run I choked so bad on my first 3 laps I just quit. I should have taken it as a sign and taken a break before the 2nd run. I somehow managed 25 laps, but they were tough laps and I never felt comfortable.

After the !@#%ing I got last week, I will not attempt a 3rd run even though I know I can easily improve by 1 lap and probably 2 laps. It will all depend on what Jeff puts down and if anybody else does better than 25.

The 3PK is great. I do have a leg up since I have the ability to use my ABS. I'm not sure what kind of radio Jeff and Rob are running but I imagine Rob is using something high end as well.

I dont' know how late you generally stay up, but maybe you could try again late tonight Rob, when far less folks are using their cable.

I'm also tempted to try another stab at it, but my practicing isn't much better. I made my car slightly more driveable by adding .5 to my rear toe and 3% to my rear diff. I get a better sence of the direction of my line when exiting onto a straight, therefore I can judge my entry line better for the next turn. My current setup is nowhere near where I started from.

I have done 25 in practice offline, but I choked in the "race" too. I don't have much to lose so I'll run again later. My batts are recharging now.

I use a 3PKS for VRC.

The best I have managed in a 10 minute practice using 94% grip is 28 laps.

I honestly don't think I can get to 29 and challenge Josh so I will hang loose and see how the rest of the runs come in before I throw caution to the wind and run again.

Well, here's my sob story. First off, not sure I had anything to beat Josh's 29. Might have come close. But there were a few issues. First, grip online seemed less than in practice. So that was throwing me badly. Secondly, my overall framerate was grim this week for some reason. So in my first run I flipped a couple times and had to marshall. Then on my first pit stop, I accidentally hit the "T" and put tires on. But no fuel. So I ended up running out of fuel and had to pit twice. Duh!
Second run. Relatively consistent for the first half. Pit. Get fuel. Exit pit. Framerate drops right out and the game nearly freezes for 2 laps. Turns out my F***ING computer started to download a F***ING Java update right in the middle of the race. I'm trying to limp my ass around when a f***ing bubble pops up saying a Java update is available. Screw Java. Dammit! So that just killed me. Anyway, 28 is fine. I'll let it ride.

If you had a 27 I would go ahead and make a final run despite what happened last week.

It's not worth the risk since I have only achieved 28 laps once.

27 laps seems to be my magic number in practice.

What do you have to lose Rob? If I were in your position I'd make another go at it. You have 3 laps over Randy. I'd make a go of it and pay attention to your laptimes versus the laptime you need to get closer or pass Jeff. If you start blowing laps or by halfway don't feel like you'll be able to catch him... reign it in and finish out the run smooth to maintain 3rd place.

I'm very surprised not to be looking at runner-up this week. I was certain Jeff would be able to beat me.

Are you guys practicing with traffic??? Just curious. I always practice under race conditions. Speaking of... the AI speed level doesn't show does it? I've had the AI set at 90% for the road races thus far but that is considerably slower than what we are running at. I mentioned this earlier today but I'm going to up the AI speed for the remaining road races this year. I was practicing with 98% Club cars this weekend and they were competitive. I've already changed all remaining road races to 98% AI but I'm going to play around with that week to week.

It's not maintaining 3rd by lap count that worries me.

Round 3 - Fiorano

6/15/2009

Slick conditions in Italy proved to be very difficult but as always, the cream has risen to the top. The results of Fiorano mirror that of the opening round as Lessen takes his 3rd win of the season with Candyman and Robmob in toe. Racer_1966 and Savagefan04 make up the back half of the field this week. Racer is really proving he's got what it takes to compete with the middle pack as his lap consistancy is extremely competitive with Robmob's. Robmob continues to be runner-up in the consistancy category. Although no points are awarded for clean driving, talent is aparrant. Even though this weeks race was relatively ho-hum with very little excitement (maybe more of dissapointment), the road racing belt has yet again been tightened another notch. With only three races complete out of 16, there is plenty of time and opportunity left for all racers. Majority of this weeks entertainment may have come from the pre-race garage politicking. However, laptimes discussed were hardly the laptimes realized. Possibly some phycho-babble in the VRCNT garage this year? At any rate, a non-eventful race does not necessarly equate to a non-eventful season. With three wins Lessen easily has the points lead with Candyman behind with his three 2nd place finishes. Mid-pack is where things get interesting. A combinations of technical issues in Round 2 and a bounce back to form at Fiorano has brought Robmob back into the 3rd position in the points standings. However, no by much. Robmob has a scant 1 point lead over 4th place Racer_1966. How much will Racer gamble in Round 5 to take that position back? On to the Netherlands we go as VRCNT makes it's annual stop in Heemstede. Let's see how much of an edge our drivers have at this 2009 pre-season test track.
