Damn! my bad man. I'll get it all fixed up when I get home today. I need to be more careful with the points. I have to enter them manually this season because of the format. Thanks for the heads up Rob! and sorry.

No problem.

I read your Chronicle Post and saw where it stated I was only up by 1 point on Randy.
Doing the math in my head it didn't sound right so I had a look at the standings to be sure.

Great job on the Post BTW.

6/16/2009

An error was made in the point standings after Round 1 of the 2009 season. Robmob officially earned 72 points while Candyman earned 65. The current points standings after Round 3 are as follows...

Lessen-------- 240 pts
Candyman---- 209 pts
Robmob------- 191 pts
Racer_1966--- 183 pts
Savagefan04-- 167 pts

Points standings have been fixed. Still a close race for 3rd but not a single point. I have insider news as well.. we may have another racer soon :)

I know he has been talking about gettin in as well but no, not who I was referring to. I'll give you a hint. He's already in the club.

Bout time one of the other club members decided to take his dress off.

Anybody run any laps on this weeks track?

I did a little setup work yesterday but it's not quite there yet. This is actually the first time I've touched VRC before a Saturday this season. I'm trying to run consistant sub 20's. I don't do any full runs when I work setup. I usually take 3-5 laps at a time and tweak it. I probably have around 25-30 laps of practice in from yesterday. I think my fastest was 18.6. My setup is decent but I think I'm just not quite comfortable with the track yet. I have trouble with the end of the back stretch and the front chicane. I'm most comfortable from left most corner through to the carousel.

Lots of way to correct that. Unfortunately, I'd have to ask about 3 dozen question to give you any advice that would be worth a crap. If you want to give me more specifics I can try to help ya out. Does it handle better on tight turns or wide turns? Does it push on entry or exit? Does it push on throttle or off? Is the rear end twitchy under braking? Is your turn-in quick or delayed? How do you prefer your turn-in? I feel like a crew chief... the more you give me the better info I can give you.

A lot of it is probably my bad driving. it is better on the wide turns and more on entry. On the exit of the tight turns it gets loose easily. The rear is a bit twitchy on braking.

What exactly do you mean about turn-in?

How the car reacts when you turn into the corner. When I setup my car there is a certain feel I try to attain about turn-in. It's a big deal when it comes to how comfortable I am driving it. One thing to keep in mind that your "bad driving" is probably a result of a bad setup for you. When you get your car setup to your personal taste you will be more comfortable and speed will come naturally. Tight on entry, loose on exit... There are two ways of looking at this. Too much rear lateral grip or too little steering. I would suspect too little steering and the first thing I would look at is your caster due to the fact that you are loose on exit. More caster gives you a quicker corner entry but a slower corner exit. Meaning, it helps to scrub speed quicker when you turn in (it wants to cut in to the corner harder) and it's slower to react to your turn out as you exit. Less caster does the opposite... slower entry (less sensitive to steering response), but faster exit (more sensitive to steering). First thing I would try is a rise in your caster angle. One click on that adjustment will be very noticeable. More than likely that will help your entry but you may still be loose on slow corner exit. In that case you need to get the rear end planted better under lower load. More camber won't help as much here because camber settings are less sensitive at lower cornering speeds. You could go to a softer rear spring which would certainly do the trick but you will see a decline in your high speed cornering ability... (it would significanlty hurt that back right corner speed). I would try to loosen the rear diff slightly.. go like 2-3% at a time and when it feels better you can adjust by the single percent. My gawd that's a lot of tech chatter...

I have a touring car tuning guide that I use to setup my 10th scale electric rigs.

It explains what all the various settings and the effects of changes. It even has a nice chart after the end of each section that tells you "if you car is doing this, then do this".

Pretty handy.

That's the way I like to think of it! Remember though, I'm an MT driver. We just crush things and run over'em! :D

From your description, the caster adjustment sounds like a reasonable aid to my problem. I'll play around some more tonight.

Rob, thanks for the link. That looks like a good book to have, just may have to pick that up. :)

Thanks Josh, those adjustments helped. Loosening the diff was really the biggest improvement. The caster adjusment helped some but not substantially. Another thing that helped,I still had the grip level at 94% from last week! :opps:

Still haven't got exactly what I want but it is more drivable and I have dipped under the 20 sec mark a few times. I think I'm going to leave it alone now and just drive how it is.
