I'd say 1 lap+ is plenty more than a small improvement. Lookin' good Randy. I see Jeff has made it atop the list. I'm busy painting this evening so I probably won't attempt any more until tomorrow.

Welp, I'm done for this test session. I thought just for shits and giggles I'd try to top jeff with one more seat-of-my-pants run. I'd say that's a good test fellas. The competition is VERY close at this stage of the game. That's extremely encouraging for me.

I plugged everybody's runs into my spreadsheet and I looked at some of the behind the scenes numbers and for the first time something I didn't think would happen happend. It's not a bid deal and it only affects the consistancy rating but for the first time a fast lap was actually outside of the maximum variance of average time. When I setup up the spreadsheet to calculate consistancy I assumed the the laptime that would be the furthest (most time) away from their average lap would be the span amount of time. I figured that would always be somebody's maximum variance. My last lap of my last run was actually outside of that span (it was a greater amount of time difference to avg. than my slowest lap). I know I'm probably just talking a bunch of numbers jargon but I just found it interesting. Anyways....

Wow Josh, that's really.....ummmm......interesting? And what would make it that much more interesting is if I knew what the hell you were talking about. But then again, I hated statistics and cringe every time I have to wade through heavily analyzed research articles.

But anyway, 4 seconds, huh? OK. I'll take a 2nd to that. I hope the rest of the season is just as tight. Already started my Heemstede setup and we'll see how the next test goes. I'm glad to see more names and more close racing. It's going to be a fun season.

Well if you look at your average laptime wouldnt' you think that your slowest lap would always be the time furthest away? I did, I was wrong. I'm not surprised that I'm wrong, just surprised that my fastest lap was actually actually outside of that realm. The way my spreadsheet is setup, it does not recognize that fastest lap. That's how I get around our pitstop laps. Our pitstop laps are "always" our slowest laps, or at least should be. The way it's set-up, the spreadsheet ignores those out-of-whack laptimes, so your consistancy rating is not affected by your long pitlap. This way it's a much more a true number that is comparable whether you pit 2, 3, or 4 times or not at all depending on the race.

Hey, what can I say.. I like math and I've always been sort of good at it. But I wouldnt' even know how do figure the consistancy rating if it weren't for my job. It's a standard formula we use in the lab to calibrate the machines but the same principle applies to this particular application.

BTW, I liked "Blue" much better than your Blue Man in your sig. Just something that just now occured to me.

BTW2, that's one hell of a nice pitlap Jeff. I'm very weary of trying to push the envelope with that because you can't see the entry as early as I would like, I think I could probably change my zoom some but I don't know if that would help much.

Hey I actually understand what you're saying :)

All my runs are in. I tried my best. I was able to hit 20 laps offline but couldn't make it happen when it counted.

I've got one question. Where do I find a rechargeable pack for my tx? Are they all 9.6v?

I could probably change my zoom some but I don't know if that would help much.

Whut's that mean?

So I'll assume what you're saying is that for some reason some of us are uncorking bizarrely fast laps that don't fit within a typical deviation from our mean time. I guess when you look at it like that, it is weird. I suppose it might be explained by (oxymoronically enough) consistent struggles on that track. I know I had some difficulty chaining good laps. I had trouble getting the timing coming into the infield esses and if I entered late, I had to make more exaggerated turns to get through. Too early and I'd bite a curb. Also had trouble going into that infield carousel too fast at times and overshooting. But every once in a while I'd hit. And I'd notice a huge drop in laptime.

So maybe that's it.

And I think I might just go back to Bloo for a bit.....

OFFLINE? It's a test, whataya need to run offline for? :stick:

I suppose it depends on your transmitter. I use Energizer rechargables in my 3PK. I get like 4.5 hours on a charge or something like that.

When you're in the game, you can click on the "Zoom" button at the top of the screen. It changes the way the camera tracks your car. I have mine set so that it zooms out when the car is close, and zooms in when the car is far away. Lets me keep an eye on it on the back side of the track. And it helps me look ahead on the front side of the track. Experiment with it and see what you like.

See... you get it just fine.

Actually, just opposite. Generally speaking, our "fast laps" ARE within the span that I set. My fast lap in my last run is the first and only time I've seen it outside of it. So I'm the bizarre one. I guess it's kind of a good goal. It's just shows that my slowest lap really wasn't that slow all things considered. It just caught me by surprise.

Because I need more seat time, I'm a complete on road :n00bie:

It's just an XP3D. There is a plug on the battery tray and a charger jack on the side. I was looking for a flat pack or something to fit it. I Never even thought about using rechargable AAs.

AAAHH, I see. Thanks. I haven't had time to check out any options yet, I've only been operable for week or so. I need to drive from the driver's seat view to do any good in other video games.

Test #1

I think it would have almost been easier to do it the clean way. Anyways, just for reference...

Yeah, for some reason it wasn't showing me anything the first day. Weird.

I havn't even bothered with setup yet. The website is again giving me problems with viewing times. Earlier today it showed 3 people entered but only showed times by Candyman and myself. I dunno, it doesn't matter much anyways until it's all said and done.

I seem to have the most trouble figuring out the braking zone and the end of the backstretch. I feel safest if I brake twice but that's gotta be killing me.

LMAO

I missed the re-fuel spot 3 times in a row. I hate pit stops!

Ok everybody, everything is set up and I hope this will make for an interesting season. The format and races have been updated in the first post but I'll give you guys the rundown.

  • All official race times will be determined by each racers LAST time posted. This goes for everybody and all races.
  • If your last post is a DNF you will receive last place points
  • If more than one racer's final post is a DNF they will receive points based on their points position going into that race (example: 2 out of 6 racers result in DNFs. racer A will receive 5th place points because he started the race in a higher points position than racer B. Racer B will receive 6th place points)
  • If the above happens at the first race all DNF's will result in equal points equivilent to the lowest possible points given for the amount of racers (example: 3 racers result in DNFs in Round 1. Since 7 racers entered, all 3 DNF racers will receive 7th place points)
  • Standard points format applies. There will be no reset and no "playoffs" this year.
  • There is a wide variety of race lengths. Six(6) races 20 minutes or longer, three(3) 15 minute races and seven(7) races 10 minutes in length or shorter

The rule says all race will be 1 heat with 3 attempts. Do I have to make all 3 attempts? Or if I make one and like it, can I quit there in order to avoid the risk of DNF or worse result?

Ahh, you catch on quickly Randy-son... :)

I think this format will put a little more pressure on everybody to race realistically. Under the "standard format", If I put a good run down and I know it's good I can go out there and try to better it without any risk of hurting my standings. In the real world this is rediculous, even in real r/c racing. When it comes to the mains you must perform on queue. There are no 2nd, 3rd, 4t etc. chances to improve, and if you overdo it you run the risk of wrecking to DNF or certainly losing positions or time at the very least. The idea is to include realistic mentality into this season. You can go out there and attempt to better yourself, but you best better yourself because once you start a run it counts. I'm hoping this will really mix up the weekly results and I honestly believe it will, especially with the wide array of race lengths. We will have a number of very long races, a few medium distance races and a fair amount of sprint races. Those of us who are generally faster over the long haul may benefit from the endurance type races whereas those of us who have a knack for laying down some blisteringly fast lap times may have the edge in the short races.

FYI, the number next to the race in the main post of this thread is the length of the race in seconds
