range problems

i've just installed a new esc and motor and now i get get nearly as far with my car then i did with my old esc and motor. but with the old esc (TEU-101BK) there was a wire that ran to the BATT. slot on my receiver and the new esc (LRP AI RUNNER PLUS reverse) doesn't have that, do i have too connect a receiver batterypack too solve this problem,

No. The cable that goes to the ESC hooks in to the throttle slot (channel 2) on the receiver and powers it through that cord.

so do i have to get another receiver too solve my range problem?
