My girlfriend has a savage with a JR XR3i radio on it. The problem we're having with it, is that you only have to touch the throttle to make it go wide open. There's no "in between"

Does anyone know what I need to do/change to fix this? Kinda sucks when you can't control your truck in the air.

It is most probably your exponential throttle settings. I'm almost 100% sure it's set to maximum. Check your manual. It's been a while since I used my JRXS3 (sysnthesized version of yours) but let me know if you can't find how to get to the settings. I'll look in my manual if the trouble still persists.

I played with that, but it didn't seem to have any effect on it.

Is there any way to reset the radio to factory settings?

When you do the expo on the throttle, make sure it's on the negative side.

What does that mean?

Just what is sounds like....you can program in a dead spot in the controllers controls....50% deadband and nothing happens till you get to half a pull.

Not exactly sure if that would be your issue....I tend more toward divers theory. Do you have the manual...if not got to Fast Eddys site...he has the JR radio manuals.

For the hell of it connect your steering servo into the throttle servo plug on your reciever. I had a servo that went bad that would do that.

Yeah... that sounds weird. It almost sounds like the throttle channel isn't set up like a linear channel, but more like a switch would be for reverse. Is there possibly a channel "switching" setting on that radio that let you swap channel 3 to the throttle channel?

Could also be the fried servo like vb said. I've had that happen in the past as well.

It's hard to say exactly what's going on. It sounds like olds said and for some reason it's acting like channel 3.
I'd reset the program. To do that, turn the tx off. Hold down the <Scroll> and <Channel> keys at the same time and then turn the tx on. Then press the <Scroll> key until "CLR" appears on the screen. Then press the <Increase> and <Decrease> keys at the same time to reset all the settings in that program. Just make sure that you have the tx set to the proper model memory before you do it.

Thanks much! That fixed her right up. That's why I like this forum.

There is a setting that will set up the speed in % from idle to T.W.O. I will have to check my radio when I get home. I had the same issue with my XS3. Then you also have a dead band setting.
