the idea of a nascar sanctioned track on eastern LI is a pipe dream theres only one way in and out, not to mention where are you going to put all those people? as far as that there are are plenty of tracks you can make it to in a few hours time.

the biggest problem has been that all the straight line tracks have closed down here. now we have a bunch of guys with track cars who have no where else to go except to the streets or a big bill to get to a decent track. and now with all the kids and there damn riceburners street racing everywhere! i really hope that they open another straight track on the island because its getting to be way to expensive to get my car down to englishtown

In reality there is two ways in and out, 495 and Sunrise Hwy/27. As much as I would like to see one out here I agree with you, it's just a pipe dream. Hell we can't even get a rc track on this damn island:angry:

I would love to see a drag strip too, but tree huggers, and people that move next to a racetrack then complain about the noise need to get a life. That's the reason Freeport is gone, West Hampton drag strip, and Islip Speedway is gone, and Islip was a piece of history. Way back in the day before it was even called Winston Cup, the big boys raced at Islip.

Then those same tree huggers are crying about street racing, which I am totally against as well, but because of safety issues to innocent people caught in the way. So keep taking away safe legal places for people to race, and they are going to find their own place, and unfortunately put innocent people in harms way.

When I was in my early 20s I had a bad ass 74 Camaro I used to drag race, legally, but we had a drag strip called Hollywood Moroso Speedway way out in the swamps of Florida, well it was way out until they started building out to it. Then it happened, people bought homes near the strip, and began complaining until the track was shut down.

It's about time!!!!!

At least it wasn't a Busch brother! I liked the look of Jeffs car much better today though, without all the wimpy rainbow colors.

NASCAR:

GO GORDON!!!! I agree NC. Getting some new paint on the car looks good. I think it might even be a bit of a mental boost for him. I think he needs to break out of that Rainbow Warrior mold. He needs to go badass (ala Dale Sr.) in his later years here. His car was dialed in. He was hooked up and it was good to see. He has shown strong all year. Glad he got that win now. He's off they schneid and now it's time to get some more good wins.

Formula 1:
Another good race although shortened. It was dicey for F1. A lot of strong cars. Button, as expected. Trulli still running strong. I was surprised by Glock's run. He opted for the intermediates while a lot were thinking full wets. He was just killing the field for a while there. I'm still confused about Ferrari. They put Kimi on full wets before the track was even damp. And McLaren was just fumbling again. It looks like ending the dominance of Ferrari and McLaren really evens the field. Brawn-Mercedes, Toyota and BMW Sauber look strong. A lot of close racing. It really makes it that much better. I'm totally hooked this year. 2 weeks to China.

Obviously, Ferrari was hoping for a sudden downpoor that never came. They ran around running 30 seconds slower per lap than the leader all while shredding those tires. I still can't get over their Fup in qualifying.

sidenote- I REALLY dig the whole half-points deal they have going on for shortened races.

Not that I enjoyed seeing Gordon win... at least it was not KB! I thought Jimmie was going to track him down... just not enough laps left. Was going to be a good points day for Jr, until his right rear tire issue put him in the wall. I thought he would get a great chance there toward the end when he was out in front... but KB ruined that one quick. I hate double file restarts. Good day for Gordon.. it has been a while since he last won... doesn't mean I have to like it... but its still good to see a verteran win for a change.

Cool to see Mark Martin win one again, he is such a class act. Congrats Mark!

Almost as good was seeing ass clown Busch get a speeding penalty on the last pit stop! HahAHAHAhahHAhHAahhA

+1

Very cool to see Mark win. Even more cool to see so many people in victory lane congratulating him. That's awesome.

I've been hoping he'd get back on the ball. He just needed to make a decision to stick with it. Then get a good car. Looks like he's there. And he looked like he was having fun last night. That's awesome. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets another at some point. I thought Gordon might be top 10 after his staggered pit strategy. But someone dropped a lugnut and that killed it. At least he's still in the points lead. Even though that doesn't really mean anything.

On the F1 tip, I'm not entirely liking the rain. I appreciate the fact that they keep running for the most part. But yesterday it really spoiled the race for me. I think China is one of the prettiest tracks out there. As is Malaysia. And they both got soaked which stunk. Hoping for some full-on running at Bahrain next week.

I am also glad to see Mark get a win... and to dominate the race as he did was even better. It is also nice to see other pit crews have problems with the lug nuts... not just JR. The extra threads on the lugs are really posing some teams real problems with timing. I was also hoping to see the pit stratagy work out as well... wasn't in the cards. It was nice to see Jr lead more laps than he has all year though! LOL

Hey lessen.... did you see the sweet save Jamie had about mid way through? He had that car so sideways you could see though both side windows... hell of a save!

I'm real happy for Mark. He's deff in my top 5 drivers. What happened to Jr? He just dropped off the radar?

Went to the NHRA Southern Nationals here in Georgia Saturday and Sunday this past weeked. Nothin' quite like 300 mph in a straight line.

I missed all the run-up so far. I did see Q3 this morning. Don't know if you saw it yet so I won't say anything. I'm 50-50 on Bahrain. Nice layout. But smack in the middle of desert. It'll be a hot, dry race. And it'll be interesting. I've got to remember it's on at 7 tomorrow AM. It's worth getting up for.

I like this track a lot. That hairpin at the middle of the track in sector two can make or break your lap. I'm watching qualifying right now but I might wake up early tomorrow as well.

Josh, it was a good race this morning. Brawn is really showing their stuff. Aside from trouble in the rain in China they've been the class of the field by a longshot. I though that Toyota did well. Trulli looked good the whole race. And Vettel is really giving Red Bull a lot of cred. I might sound mean for saying this, but it's refreshing to see Ferrari, McLaren and Renault struggling.

I did see the Nationwide race yesterday. Saw the Kenseth flip. Total traction roll. Roof flaps weren't going to help that. I heard Kenny Wallace drop in Ragan's lap today. Have to say he's wrong on that one. Matt stepped out of line to block Newman. When he stepped out, Ragan was in a draft and was coming up. Matt cut back in, David had nowhere to go and hit his bumper. It was a racing incident, but no doubt it was mostly because Matt tried to push back in.

I tell you what. With so much talk about how Ferrari, Mclaren, and Renault are struggling, the team that has got me bewildered more than anything is BMW Sauber. I can't believe how terribly they are running.

and Ferrari... they need to just junk that KERS and get on with their standard program. However, I do have to admit.. that battle between Barrichello and Piquet was very entertaining considering the Renault was slower but the use of KERS was significantly holding up Rubens from getting by. That was a pretty cool battle.

Know what I hate? I hate when your guy is taken out in "The Big One" only 7 laps in. Am I right Josh? Unfortunately my guy was one of the guys responsible. Not a good thing. Kinda hard to blame one guy, though. Kenseth was going low. Looks like Kurt Bush bumped Gordon which pushed him up past Matt's bumper. So when Matt came up a touch, he clipped Gordon's nose. Gordon got loose, bumped Matt again and then it all broke loose. Kinda sucks. No excuses for Gordon. Just looked like a racing incident. Just kinda ruins the day.

I put the Indians game on after lap 8. At least they won.

I didn't even get to watch enough the race to get interested in "the race". Chalk up another bad finish for the 26 team due to issues beyond their control. Thank goodness button is doing so well.

it really sucked the gordon got taken out on lap 7......it turned out to be a pretty good race....

congrats to brad for winning.....and to edwards for crossing the line ricky bobby style lmao
