Quitting smoking / E-cigs?

I kinda wish they were out when I quit. Brilliant idea.

A lot of government jobs I work on do not allow smoking on site. I prefer the LOGIC e-cig to curb the nicotine craving.

My old roommate tried em but he's back smoking again. I think the biggest issue is the batteries don't last long so make sure you have a few. I don't smoke but I think a lot of the habit is the hand to mouth motion. Same goes for drinking beer. I started playing video games and now a beer will last an hour if I even finish it while I'm playing. Where with nothing else to do they don't make it 15 mins...

I agree to this statement.

Been doing the e cig thing for a while now. My last regular cig was Aug 26th 2012, and I can't tell you how much better I feel. The e cig thing is known as vaping (NO not that kind of vaping :D), due to the fact that you are inhaling water vapor, that has nicotine and flavoring added to it. Previously, I had tried the gum and patches both and neither one worked for me. My reasoning is they didn't work because it's a delayed reaction, whereas the e cig is instant just like smoking, plus it replicates the physical acts of smoking. If you go that route, do some research and pick a good brand and don't get stuck with crap, that's why it doesn't work for most. If you have any questions, shoot me a PM, I'm all for helping someone else kick the habit. Good luck man!

I've been trying to quit for so long i can't remember all the stuff I've tried. We all start smoking as kids trying to be cool, now we try to quit and can't..

I tried having a cig a couple weeks into the e cig deal. I had a good friend in town, and we were having drinks, which always make me want to smoke, and it's where I failed in the past when I tried to quit.

It tasted so horrible I almost yakked, and I knew right then I had it whipped, and I was done for good. I can't imagine smoking one now, just visiting my parents and how they and their cars smell is nasty. I'm no hipocrite, I smoked for way too long to judge anyone (not that I would anyway), but it's funny how I loved my smokes for over 20 years, and can't stand to smell one now.

You are the first person i ever heard say that. Usually when someone quits they say they like the smell of a cigarette because they miss it so much.

Nikko, I think a very big part of it as well is, you have to want to quit, truly want it. There is no magic bullet for any addiction, unless you really want to kick it. I felt like a prisoner to the tobacco companies, and like I was paying someone to kill me, and I wanted to quit really badly. In the beginning, the smell made me crave a cig, and I wanted one really bad. Until I tried it that one night, and from then one, when I smell one, I associate it with that nasty taste. So, I suppose I've been very lucky in that regard.

Well good for you brother. Will power has something to do with it as well, and my will power about zero.

I really couldn't tell you why but the ecigs have never worked for me. The taste just isn't right and not as appealing after a meal or a certain activity involving 2 consenting adults or drinking. On the other hand after buying a $300 vaporizer, I barely ever smoke the stuff that goes in that anymore. Don't get me wrong it tasted superb going through their though, much more mellow and smooth tasting, almost like a Belmont cigarette lol.

After watching and reading all kinds of different articles on the carcinogens the tobacco releases into your body and the carcinogens that cannabis releases into your body that's fights those. It makes me what to just keep that whip to my mouth and inhale. It's almost hardtop believe some of these studies are true about people who have who smoked cannabis after having and some while having cancer not haveingit come back, we'll those who had it and didn't they did have it come back. It just make me wonder what's true and what's not.

Thanks everyone. I've got the disposable blu right now, but I'm going to try some others first. It's time to quit.

I went the Chantix route. It took me 2X but I've been smoke free since fathers day 2011. It works differently for lots of people (bad dreams, suicidal thoughts for some) but if its right for you it works awesome. I drink quite often and get all sorts of grossed out from others smoking around me now. I've seen others use the e cig but all honestly I dont think they really wanted to quit as much as stop paying $8-9 a pack. Good luck and dont give up!!!!

I don't care what you try, it still comes down to will power. All those substitutes cost just as much as your cigarettes.
I quit in 2005 and others have quit using the method I came up with.

If you smoke inside, stop it. Go outside on the patio or go sit in your garage. If that's what you do now, then go stand on the lawn. You absolutely MUST change your casual habits about smoking.
When you light the cigarette, smoke ONLY half. That is enough to satisfy your 'hand to mouth' habit as well as your need for nicotine.
Believe it or not, you will find you need less per day almost immediately. If you want one, go out and do it. Don't deprive yourself, just do it outside, rain, snow or sunshine. Take an umbrella if you need to.
After a week, when you put out the cigarette half way, save the other half for your next smoke break. No, it won't taste fresh but it will still cover your habit.
Each day your body needs and gets less and less nicotine. You didn't START all at once so there's no way you can STOP all at once.
In a few weeks you will be down to 2 or 3 cigs a day and it's effortless to just put them down forever.
It's almost 8 years for me and I've never craved even one.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

Don't smoke in your car, either. Smoke a half cigarette before you get in, and don't smoke the other half till you get out, if you still need it. It's just another casual habit that MUST change to make you aware of what a nasty habit...and I MEAN habit...that smoking has become.
