I pulled out an old RS4-2 to put it together with my little brother and I am running into some problems (of course)

I ended up buying a new transmitter (Airtronics Blazer Sport) and it came with a new Micro receiver

The receiver on the car is an old Airtronics (it's no good) and the servos fit it currently but DO NOT fit the Micro receiver

I plan on finding some smaller plugs/clips that will fit the Micro receiver and solder them on the wires of the servos

So... the QUESTION:

Any reason I should NOT solder the smaller fitting plugs onto the servos currently on the car so that they will plug into the Micro receiver properly????

TIA

the servos should have the same plug on the. its pretty much universal.

some of the recievers dont have the room for the little notch on the servo plug, so you may have to grind that off. but it should fit after that.

I thought the same thing until I saw these...

I will of course take another look but even comparing the insert areas on the receiver itself I could tell a difference, and not just the knotching

I will triple check this soon but really I still want to know if there is any potential for a problem if I solder on the smaller plug to the wires of the servos so that they can be plugged into this new Micro receiver

OK So I triple checked the plugs and I can why it would seem as though you could just grind down the tabs and it would fit but it WILL NOT

The edges of the older plugs are square and flat, while the new (blue) plugs for the micro receiver have a rounded edge on one side and require this rounded edge in order to be inserted into the plug area of the receiver

Also, I tried to grind down the edges of the older clips (as well as remove the tabs which was no problem) but you can not round the edge enough to fit without compromising the integrity of the plugs!!

SOOO... my question stands. Is there any reason why I should not solder up the new (blue) plugs for the micro receiver to these older servos in order to use them still??!!?

You can, but it would be a waste. You should just continue grinding the servo into the shape that it'll fit into the receiver.

if you have servos that wont fit in the reciever my guess would be they are old servos. although you CAN change them, by soldering on new ones, or using a crimp tool and replaceing them, i think it would be better in the long run to get a couple of servos new that have the correct plugs.

Well like I said if I were to continue to grind the current plugs down the wire itself would become exposed which I don't want

I did find some convertor plugs that are made by Airtronics specifically for my need so I plan to go and find 2 of those

If I can't find them then I will just solder them up!
