When cutting a Tamiya end off of a battery pack.... which wire do you cut first... Red or Black? Also... do you cut both wires and then solder, or cut one solder cut the other and repeat? Thanks

Tom

Whatever you do, don't cut both at the same time. And I mean that literally. You'll dead short the pack.
Otherwise it doesn't matter. I'd be cautious and cut one, then solder it to the new plug. Insulate the connection then repeat with the other. It was pretty freaking nerve wracking the first time I had to solder a Dean's to a LiPo. I was sure I was going to blow it up.

That is my fear exactly.... I just don't do it enough to feel really comfortable. I guess after a few years of doing it, it may become second nature. That is also why I haven't tried LiPo's yet... I would be as nervous as a dog pooping you know what! LOL I guess then I would know what those Bomb disposal guys feel like.... Do I cut the Blue or the Red!!! LOL

WOW, i never thought of that candy. I'm suprised I havent jacked up a pack yet then caus I always cut the end off at the same time, maby its because its a mini pack but I'm going to take this into concideration next time I do it lol.

Well I thought I would ask... with batteries getting to be the better part of a hundred bucks a pack... you can never be to careful.

You need to look at that wire goes to the detonator first. From there take a guess, close your eyes and pray.

LOL... but what if it is a mercury switch and I am out of Liquid Nitrogen?!!

Always cut the white wire with the green stripe first. Never cut the green wire with the white stripe, otherwise it goes kaboom.......

I always wondered in the movies, what kind of bomb maker uses a standardized kit for making bombs? Is there an ARTB (almost ready to blow) kit out there? "Just add fuel and your favorite radio controller!"

In other news, this also never occured to me, but the 1 at a time idea does make a lot of sense. I usually have someone else do it anyways because I suck at soldering.
