quick airbrushing question

i just got an airbrush kit today, with airbrush, hose, compressor, and cleaning station. heres my questions...

will normal "airbrush" paint work on a lexan body?
i want to do a true fire job. will any transparent paint work? or does it have that special annodized paint?

You need to use polycarb/lexan specific paint. I prefer Pactra Acryl, but you can also use Parma, or Createx which is available at Michaels. As far as true fire I have used both spaz stix hard anno, and alclad transparent paints, the spaz gives a much better result imo.

Yeah, definitely need lexan specific paint or it wont bond well. A lot of guys like water basedpaints but I personally happens to like laquer. I used to use Fascolor but switched to pactra toget a finer spray.

I have a box of 12 water baised colors, will they work or no?

Yeah, they'll work fine as long as they are the type formulated for lexan. Paints like Createx, Fascolor, Pactra Acryl are all waterbased and will work very well on r/c bodies. They bond to the lexan instead of just coating it so when the lexan bends the paint does not crack and fall off.

If you have a strong compressor, the acrylic paints are fine.The Alclad paints are killer. Be sure to clean your brush as soon as you are done. Warm water with a few drops of Dawn, or whatever will work, for water-based paint, and mineral-spirits, or stronger, for laquer-based paints. Clean your brush twice
