Hey everyone!

I just ordered a new body for my on-road nitro car and getting ready to paint it. I've just got a few questions about doing so.

1. What do I need to do to prep as far as washing the body? Will some normal soap and water wash it out or do I need a special cleaner?

2. I noticed that some window shaped decals came with the car, but I was curious if they were premade window masks, or decals. The backing on them looks different from the decal backing, and has grid marks and the word Mactac along with grid lines. Anyone happen to know which they are?

3. Is there a special paint that I need to buy? I work at Home Depot and was wondering if a normal can of paint will work, or do I need to get one specifically for lexan?

4. I was wondering about some reinforcement techniques that people use. I was going to maybe pick up some metal/plastic washers to stick around the posts, but is there any other things that I can do to reinforce the body? I usually just run the car up and down my street, which I have a tendency of smashing into the curbs.

5. Is there a specific place that would carry the curved scissors for cutting lexan?

Thanks so much for any of these questions that you all would be willing to answer. I really appreciate it.

Here we go:

1. Soap and water work fine. Just make sure to let it dry overnight for best results.

2. Those are window masks used to keep the window areas clear when you paint.

3. You will need to get a good lexan paint from a hobby shop. If you don't have one locally you can shop online at places like AMain hobbies.

4. Shoe Goo is what I have used to reinforce stress areas on my shells. They make adhesive foam washers for the body mount areas.

5. Hobby shops carry the lexan scissors that you are asking about.

A good hobby shop is a great place to pick up tips and how to's as well as find those gotta have parts and tools. You can also make some good friends there as well.

Only thing I prefer to do is an abrading on the body while doing the soap clean to the inside using a piece of white scotchbrite. It will scuff up the lexan and give you better adhesion of the lexan paint. If you hit alot of things like I do it will help in keeping the paint from cracking/crazing as well!

And oh yeah - Good or bad we want finish pics of the lid!!
