Question on brushless...

What would I have to do to make a 100% stock RC18MT handle a Mamba brushless system? I already have couple pairs of ring/pinion gears for the diffs when they go haha.

I did a search, and I've seen what people have done, but I'm wondering what must be done?

CVDs, locked or tightened diffs, and make sure the diffs are shimmed. Which Mamba are you going with? Lipos or nimh? I'd go with a 6800kv, 8000kv is too fast.

Just like dom said.Ill add to it.Get TI wheel hub pins & alum.hubs.And a CF drive shaft.And you will need a good GP bat pack or a 3 cell lipo pack.
The cheap batterys will cause cogging.

I'm not sure I'm going with anything, I was thinking nimh. My diffs are shimmed, and are already pretty tight, but I could tighten them up some. If I do go brushless I will pick up some CVDs.

If you could point me in the direction of a Mamba and a pack, don't need max performance here...just good lol.

Decent price too, thanks Zandor. Now for a pack, do they sell premade packs with GP1100 cells? I have no way of making a pack here...

Also what connections do I need...again I have no soldering station...

I've used the 6800 and the 8000 in an 18T and also have the 5400 in my M18T.

Your 18MT will handle both without doing many mods unless you are going to do big jumps or ultra-hard bashing. I've had my 18T at full speed many times with the 8000 and three cell lipos and it's still in one piece after doing cartwheels accross the asphalt.

The Mambas are great but most of us are moving up to Aon brushless motors or greater for our micros.

If you want to have some real fun, drop the Wraith into your mini. I have one pre-ordered for my mrs4 540, 7000kv rated at 310 watts which is the torque of the Aon and the speed of the Mamba 8000 combined.

Lithium polymer batteries. If you go this way use 2 or 3 cell. I have 1- 2s 2200 MaxAmps pack and 3- 3s packs ranging between 730 - 1320 mixed between Thunder Power and Apogee. I wasn't kidding you about the speed. The 3s packs make them like little rockets.
Make sure you get the deminsions made for the 18T so you don't have to mod your chassis.

They do not run as well with dry cell packs mainly because of the weight that the cell count will add. If you are going to race on tight tracks then get the 5400 and a good 5 cell pack.
