i have a rechargeable glow starter that came with my car, and i have fully charged it, per the directions, how many starts, or rather, how long is it good to use before i need to recharge it?, should i charge it anytime I'm not using it?, and can it be overcharged?, also is there a way to find the state that the starter is in, like 90%, 50% etc.

Welcome to RCNT. I moved the thread here. Even though a glow ignitor is electric, electric RCs don't need them.
Some igniters have a gauge on them that shows you how much power is left when they are connected to a plug. If the needle doesn't move at all, then you know you have a bad plug.

ok, thats an answer i was looking for,
can you overcharge it?, how do you know when its done charging?

I dont know about the overcharging. I just plug it in for a few hrs and go. I have 2 so if one does die I still have a back up.

If I have a big bashing day coming up, I'll drain it the day before on an old plug, let it cool, then do a full overnight charge just to make sure it's good to go. I do the same whenever I need to break-in a new engine.

Generally during the summer, I run both days of every weekend. I'll fully drain/charge it about once a month. I always carry a spare sub-c battery that I've charged as well. Cheap insurance that your fun won't be ended by something that could have been avoided.

I do the same as Olds. I always have 2 sub C igniters with me.
I also keep a D cell igniter as a backup. If it's not used, the alkaline battery will still be ready a year or more later. If you run it down, a trip to the nearest corner store for a cheapie batt and you're up and running again.

i have a couple of ignitors and can shed some light. i have two old ones.. they last about half a day each.. it really depends on what u got.. a hot shot ignitor is what i am buying and they last a good while
