Newbie trying to get acquainted with an NX8+ transmitter. In the manual's section on gimbal adjustments, it states that "You can select transmitter modes 1, 2, 3 or 4." But for some strange reason, it doesn't explain what these "transmitter modes" mean. The impression I get is that each respective transmitter mode corresponds to what platform you are flying. For example, a plane vs. a helicopter. But I'm not sure. So here are my questions:

1) Please provide a clear, plain-English explanation of each of the four transmitter modes.

2) What is the default mode number of the NX8+, and where do I find that in the menu?

3) What is the correct transmitter mode number for flying R/C airplanes?

4) How do you change from one transmitter mode to another?

Note that I am asking about transmitter modes, not flight modes. From what I can tell, there is a difference. (But maybe I am wrong about that.)

Thanks.

Experienced flyer here (mostly helicopters but this applies to fixed wing as well). The modes you are asking about applies to what the sticks control when you give input to the plane. The most common mode used in North America is (2). The left stick operates throttle & rudder, and the right stick operates elevator and aileron. Mode 3 is the opposite of mode 2. Modes 1 and 4 are variants of 2 and 3 I just don't remember the stick assignments.

As an aside, Spektrum sets up all transmitters in mode 2 from the factory, so unless you learned to fly in mode 1, 3, or 4 there is no need to change anything.

Thanks. Good to know I don't need to be concerned with this.

Incidentally, after I posted my question, someone pointed me to this website, which provides an explanation of all 4 transmitter modes.

Back in the day, my Futaba had only model, no spare models, no choices, just you and your birdy. You changed the crystal in the transmitter, hopefully remember to put up you antennae and you frequency flag was clipped to your trans mitter and you were gold to the max. Now I'm blown away from what a specktrum can do. Amazing how many models can be held in its memory...just amazing.
