hey guys I'm lookin to get an electric truck and i found a stampede 3605 I'm interested in and i have a few questions about it....
first what would i have to do if i ever wanted to put a brushless motor in it...
second would it being 2wd make it impossible to handle with brushless power...

The 'pedes are great little stadium trucks. They make a drop in Velineon Brushless that's the same as found in the factory brushless edition. It will work but it will probably start eating gears (transmission/diff) and dog bones. You can upgrade as quickly or as slowly as you want.

so does the brushless addition have gear and dog bone upgrades already installed...

are the gears a big deal to upgrade...

Just some work and money just make sure you have exploded views of what your gona do so it gets done right. No short cuts it'll cost you later.:D

If you have the money, then your better off spending the extra cash and buying the new 4x4 stampede with the velinion brushless setup. That way your ready to run right out of the box with no upgrades needed!:D

i done exactly what you're asking. i just upgraded the gears in the transmission as they went out. all you really need is the metal idler, which is cheap. i think there are 2 though, a aluminum one and a steel one. i went with the cheapest one. it was only about 5 bucks. the differential assembly i think i ordered together. i've only snapped a axle on my stampede one time. this was me goofing off before i set the esc drag brake. i had it off the ground and went from full throttle to reverse, snap...... i replaced it with stock again and have not had any issues, i bash the crap out of it.

however, 2 things. 1. i have my slipper as tight as it will go, the stock transmission prob. would have lasted a lot longer than it did if i had adjusted the slipper.

2. i don't do full throttle when i jump it. if you're on the throttle while it's in the air and land. it's prob. going to snap the axles.

aluminum idler

or you can get the steel, which is prob. what i did

i also purchased bearings for the above gear, and anything in the transmission that was bushings i replaced with bearings. i can't remember now if the base model i had had bushings or bearings.

theres the differential..

so for under 10 bucks you can have all upgraded metal gears, but keep in mind you may also need to purchase bearings..

i hope i get a thank you now, i spent the last 30 minutes or so searching for that differential and that steel gear lol

yes definatly thank you very much....appreciate it man...i hope the truck works out....I'm gonna leave it brushed for probably this whole summer and make it brushless next fall/winter and use it in the snow....if it will go in the snow...lol...

i would upgrade the gears in the transmission for under 10 bucks before i put a brushless kit on it.

Even with the upgraded gears, you still have the old black plastic which is a pain to keep the motor still in. The out drives are held on with set screws as well. The new ones have pins that go all the way through. I used to blow through out drives all the time. Even back when 2000mah nimh's where the baddest batteries. The vxl tranny is a good investment if you plan on keeping the rig for awhile. Grab the newer style slipper if you get it, or put your old input shaft in the new tranny and run the old slipper. The new slipper setup opens the doors to actually tuning with the slipper. The old style is pretty much either crank it all the way down or have it slip excessively.
