Hi everyone! It's been a LONGGGG time since I've been on:D !!!!! I'm just wondering that my kyosho inferno us soprt with a gx28 engine pull start is messed! Every time i pull it, it doesn't catch the piston and doesn't turn over the engine! So I'm wondering if i should replace my pull start.I already have a pull start but the screws dont match the back plates hole.Should i buy a new back plate???

lol ok.Also the string of the pull start is coverd in like nitro fuel and its also black lol:)
also whats a 1 way bolt?

is the string ment to be black a one way bolt is the big bolt you come to when taking off the pullstart also the backplate may be loose but dont take me for granted wait for outher people to answer aswell the string could just be oily

ok =) 1 thing... can i put my axial .28 1s pull start on it because its just laying their???

Unknownk123, DO NOT WORRY about the colour of the rope / string on the pull start, it could be purple and it would not matter so long as it does it's job. If it gets black and oily, don't worry about it. only worry about replacing it if and ONLY if the cord or return spring snap. Either way, it's easy to restring a pull start, as is repairing the spring, but that's best covered when it happens.

The "One Way Bolt" mentioned by "hpirushrvo" is actually correctly termed the "One Way Bearing". It is most commonly a hex shaped unit that slides onto the starter shaft protruding from the rear of the engine case that also engages into the rope wheel inside the pull start unit. It is not a bolt, it is not a nut (even though it may look like a nut !!), it is a roller clutch (One way bearing).

From what you describe, the OWB has become oily and is slipping on the starter shaft. That DOES NOT mean you have to buy a new one, it just means it needs cleaning.

All you need do is remove the pull start unit, then the OWB (One way Bearing) noting which way the OWB comes off as this is the way that it has to be refitted, especially since it will only rotate in one direction.

To clean the OWB, either wash it through with some WD40, Denatured alchohol or fuel then roll the clutch around a soft lint free cloth that has been pushed through to simulate the starter shaft, then wipe the outside and put to one side.Next, clean the starter shaft as this too can become oily enough to cause the OWB to slip.

All you need to do once that is done, is replace the OWB & pull start unit and test for function.

Hope that helps you........

Ohhhh thats what the one way bearing is lol =) i will do that. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!!!! BOTH OF YOU =):D

you terror you ! :hehe: you posted while i was editing my post to include some data and edit out some typo's................

Oh well, teach me to be a slow typist.............or is that an overly catious typist now ?? :hehe:

put it this way, when my OWB slips, i break out the WD40 and it starts engaging the second after i shoot the stuff at the OWB.

I got so hacked off at having to keep removing the entire engine from my rigs, to remove the pull start unit just to jet the OWB with WD40, I put a pin drill through the pull start housing aimed directly at the OWB then put a small bung over the hole to keep the muck out.. Now, all I have to do is grab the can, fit the straw nozzle, shoot it into that hole at the OWB and the OWB starts behaving like it should !

ahh bering thats the word i coulent renember the proper name and it looks like a bolt...thing so that wat i said and i never thort of cleaning it soz

very smart thing to do MR-T :D;) :first_place:

you think that can be done with ez-start ?? ill have to look ;)

yes it would do mac, all you need is the right size drill bit and a rubber bung to suit and Job done.

A lot more run time can be had too since there is no need to remove the engine, pull start etc etc

cool ..thanks ;)...took it apart and saw it could be done :D....will do it later today ;)

havent had the need for it yet ...but its a good preventive measure ...i only have about 10 tanks burnt in my engine :D

sooner or later, that OWB is gonna get oily, so an easy mod for a "Quick cure" to continue running is always a plus.

Besides, if you shoot the OWB after every running session, it's going to stay free of getting oiled up, so that means a good start every start

Hey man, one more thing. Look inside your p/s and make sure that the hex hole that the owb goes in is not completely round. I just ran into that recently and i was quick to blame the owb. Don't know if you looked there, or if you solved the problem yet, just another thing to look at.
