pull start cord got burned off!!! what do i do!?
i have 1/8 scale OFNA Ultra Comp 2

the exhaust burned it clean off :(

would an electric starter work? cuz it seems like replacing that cord would be quite troublesome

If you liked the pull starter, the cheapest thing to do is to just replace the cord.

If you don't want to do that just buy an entire new pull starter unit.

The electric starter would cost you much more to convert to.

You can also get a starter box, but that is also going to cost you a good chunk of change.

First thing you need to do is decide what method of starting you want. What I listed above is in order of how much it will cost you from cheapest on up.

ya i been looking at my options. it would cost about $60 to get everything needed for a starter box(i think, is it just box, batt. pack, and charger?) (i also don't like the idea of having to mount your car everytime u wanna start) and about $90 for a roto start type or $25 for a new pullstart.

i'm really considering the rotostart, but i can't get really rationalize having a battery charger JUST for the rotostarter. are there chargers out there that would charge both regular AAs or receiver/transmitter batt. packs AND the sub-c 6cell rotostarter batt. pack? (or am i stuck with having charger/battery pairs for each type of battery i have?)

now for the starter box i'm not really sure what goes on. i see that the undercarriage of my buggy has a slit in it where the fly wheel sticks through ( i think it's the flywheel) and then i see a rubber pad on the box. so you just mate these 2 together and bam? (with glow starter of course)

and finally, how popular are pull starts? do most find them troublesome because of the pulling? or do they foul up more often than mechanized starting options? (like mine did):doc:

Here is a link that may help you if you decide to just repair it.
thanks. i took it apart and found out the hard way about the metal coil inside. well, after fiddling with it i fixed it back up...but i guess i had weakened it before it broke in the first place and the a metal piece inside just sheared right off. so i'll definitely need a new pull start or something.

I prefer to use a starter box if at all possible. A pull starter would be my second choice. Personally I don't like roto starters.

Most chargers will charge both AA receiver/transmitter packs as well as sub-c packs.

Here are a couple a few to look at.

As with everything else in this hobby, it all depends how much you want to spend.

Looks like you have the starter box down. You just set the pegs on top of the box in the proper location for your rig so the wheel lines-up with the flywheel.

Depending on the box, it can either be used with (2) 7.4 sub-c packs or a single 12V gel cell.
