probly a dumb question

Both of my OS engine manual's suggest that you use 18% lube in your fuel. The 15 cv-r(x) and the 21 rg-X(p).

As for 10-20-30 nitro content, I've been using Trinity MHP 20% for 2 years without adverse effects. From what I've read, using 30% wears your engine faster due to bigger bang, but it makes it run smoother.

The nitro content is what keeps the engine running at lower rpms and is what gives you your pickup. Once you get past 1/2 throttle, nitro doesn't do much for you. It's all the pegging the throttle out of the corners in a race that gets you. But, if your racing, the first one out of the corners wins. For bashing, 20% will do you just fine and give you longer engine life.

I wouldn't suggest 10%. A friend of mine ran Traxxas top fuel 10% in is OS 21 RG on his maxx. It fried it in less than a gallon. Could be a lot of things, but regardless, he changed to the same fuel I'm running and hasn't had any problems since.

I've never been good at following directions from the manufacturer. Generally they tend to be more than a little conservative in their recomendations.

I agree with you. But, they are conservative because a lot of people are jumping into RC with both feet without knowing all the ins and outs of nitro engines. So, but putting some restrictions in their manuals will keep the blown engines down. Eventually the user figures they can use what they want, but normally after they find out about tuning and needs.

I'm not even pretending to know all or a lot about it myself. Just what I've read and experienced myself in the past 2 years of wasting time and money on a hobby I love.

That's about my story too.

OH my goodness don't get me started about how much money I've wasted. However on the other hand I had a day today except for fouling glo plugs that is like an epiphany. After I broke in my Picco and tuned it a little it hooked up like nobody's business and damn I love this hobby

It is so awesome when things actually go right that all the rest of it is worth it.

Never had that happen. I've also never had my RC's come home in the same number of pieces as when they left.

Damn that sounds like a personal problem. Nah sounds like you are having a little too much fun. R/C's yes are tougher than real cars but are still prone to brick walls.
