Hi, myself, and my dad both have HPI MT 2. We also both bought a set of Pro-Line Masher 2000, and a new set of chrome HPI rims for running in the snow. At first...the tires kept coming unglued, and the main problem was the chrome was ripping off the cheap wheels. Well...I unmounted everything, cleaned up the wheels and remounted. We still can't keep these tires on the rims! I've even tried 3 different brands of CA glue hoping I may have just got some bad glue. I think the main problem is that these tires are just so much bigger than most 2.2" tires, and under hard turning they just flex too much and pull loose from the wheel. Are there any suggestions to help me out here? Would a wider wheel work better, as I said we are using stock HPI rims right now. Or...is this just something that happens with bigger tires like this? Thanks

Chad

Sand the chrome off of the inside of the rims where the glue goes.
Clean both the tires and rims where the glue needs to stick. Use Denatured Alcohol to clean them and go over them several times. Get some Tire Glue, its black CA that contains rubber.

The issue is they use oil in the molds for both the tires and rims. the oil needs to be removed before anything will stick worth a darn. The chrome will also pull off the wheels and doesn't make for a great bonding surface.

If they don't stick, find another hobby.

Thanks for the suggestion...but I've done all the cleaning and sanding after the first time they came off. They still keep coming off on me! These are the only tires I've had this kind of trouble with! Mind telling me where you get the type of tire glue you are talking about? I just did a search on Tower and can't find anything looks like you described. Thanks

you mentioned something about 2.2 are your rims 2.2 because if they are thats why because the tires are not made for 2.2 rims

This is wrong, pro-line does indeed make 2.2 mashers.

Heres a direct quote from pro-lines web site...

Pro-Line's Masher 2000 2.2" truck tires are ideal for converting your truck into the ultimate “Monster Truck”. After fitting your truck with these massive Masher treads you’ll be ready for back yard thrashing and mashing on any neighborhood terrain. The Masher 2000 tires now provide Traxxas, Associated, Tamiya, Kyosho and Losi truck owners with a performance hop-up ready to Mash dirt, grass or asphalt. Molded in soft M2 these tires are sure to be a grand slam.
