Hi all,

I hope someone can help me out?

Playing with the Nitro car today (10 year old Thunder Tiger - Rally Game) after just getting it back fixed and... it skidded, did a doughnut and then cut out. Couldn't really start the car again unless we pulled the trigger for the throttle... but soon as you put it back down onto the ground the engine would die. Car seems different as well on the ground like the back wheels are not aloud to go forward?!?:\

Would you know where I would get help with this?

Many thanks

Jay

You might check for obstructions in the drive line (pebbles, twigs, squirrels, small children, etc.). Next examine the diffs. Let us know what you find.

First look for a stone or piece of gravel stuck against a drive or axle shaft. If that's clear, you probably have a problem in the rear diff.

Thanks for the replies guys.

A little more information.... While the back end is up I can run the car with no problems and the wheels spin fine. Throttle works well but as soon as I put it back onto the floor it cuts out. :(

Thanks guys I'll have a look tomorrow after work and when it's light.

Cheers!

Do the rear wheels spin when you have it idling and the rear off the ground? If so, could be that you busted a clutch spring and your clutch shoes are dragging all the time, so at idle, there's not enough torque and the engine stalls out.

olds has a pretty good point if it is rwd then yeah the clutch spring could be a problem expecially if he did a skip and gave it gas that is about when I brake them in the maxx as long as something esle dont go first...

hey I might need new batteries but I am close to the right time well sometimes l.o.l. hey it could be alittle bit of everything..... just kidding for Gobbie's sake I hope its the easyiest problem..... I hate seeing people struggle in such a fun hobby!!!!

I have a rustler and mine just when threw that mine was the clutch spring. It would not slip,as soon as my wheels hit the ground it bawgs down the engine an kills it.and it happen when i was running down the road all of a sudden no sigms of nothing it just died.what it is ,is a spring that let your clutch to slip and mine was just a straight wire when i took it off.good way to see but dont think its a good idea but i did it is hold it off the ground give it some gas and give it a lil push at same time and it should go as long as your clutch dont have to slip and it should go.......

new clutch pads and spring aent that much I think you can even buy a spring by itself if that is the problem.

never thought of that... but that is a good idea so you dont lose a whole day if you dont have a replacement or hey even if you do have a replacement saving a couple bucks here and there helps!!!!

yea you can just bend another loop on the end that is broken. I did that with mine and it lasted several days of running and bashing before it broke again. I can't take credit for the idea though someone else who's name escapes me told me that on here.
