Well, compared to some ported TRX .15s I know (you know who you are!), my OS .15 CVX couldnt fight it's way out of a wet paper bag.

I need it to make more ponies!!
I'm thinking of porting it. Has anyone done this on an OS before??

Hey Darth, I'm sure you can port it the same way the TRX is done. Its pretty easy until you have to do a little grinding in the case.... Its very tight. There's a how-to tutorial somewhere....

Here's the info I used...
Porting

Thanks ImB. I remember reading that article a loooong time ago.
I'm still deciding if I want to try it. I just picked up an AE pipe on ebay to see if that helps my low-end first, then I'll probably try the porting.

The AE pipe will help if you use it in conjunction with a Big tube header. I have 2 NJBTH's I'm going to sell if your interested. I have the original and the 2nd generation that works with the RPM shock tower issue.
You'll see em here (right side, top)

Great article NC... I'm going to have to try the carb. porting tricks... I'm in the process of going to a .21 conversion with a Hyper 8 port.

I have a big tube header made by Duratrax. Should be the same as the NJBTH.

Carb porting eh??? Hmm....

Darth, the njbt header second verion is identical to the duratrax big tube. I am using the duratrax with the AE and I love that combo.

ImBroken, I liked that part of the article, I looked at my os carb and it's already done like that.

I have never ported an engine but I did have mine done by

Jessie's engine Porting review

I'm not sure if he is doing it anymore or not.

But when I was researching porting, what I gathered from the articles i have read, is the TRX .15 engine will benefit from porting more then say a OS .15 CVX. OS's quality control is better when the engine is manufactured and the porting on the engine is done to benefit performance.

In essence the OS is pretty much already ported. You might see some gain from a port and polish on and OS but not as much as a Nitro engine that as not been manufactured to fully show it's potential. As other's have stated you might see more of a performance gain from a better Header and Pipe combo, with a little performance tuning thrown in.

Hope this helps,

SLY
