the thing I forgot to add was we had 2 people that we pretty much knew had it and the shoe prints were from a pair of shoes that were orderd online ( i knew the kid real good just not good enough i guess) We filled the cops in on everything and they didnt even ask them about anything....... I dont know I guess I expect more cause of how much I have been screwd with because I have been caught with pot like 2 -3 times and it seems like anytime i have a problem it doesn't matter... I wont even get into the truck that the cops basically helped me get screwd out of by not even filling the paper work at all because I went to the state police because the locals wouldnt do anything and the state police couldnt get any info of my situation happening so it looked like nuttin had happend at all... I figured maybe cause they are behind on the paper work so the state trooper checked into it for me for a couple weeks to see anything pop up and nuttin...... the worst part is the state trooper was ready to jump on the case but with nothing documented he said there was nothing he could do for me cause now the case was in a whole diferent playing field....... the reall kicker was the truck was in my name but i couldnt find my registration paper and other info (which i thought was in the truck).... I found 3 months later tucked in my wallet after the truck was no where to be found.. They took my plates off it and had axually registerd it in thier name and a couple days prior.... but because i couldnt find my paperwork i was told if i touched the truck I was getting arrested (for touching my own truck...) If I got into every detail we would be here fo along time but to sum it up I have had a few really bad expierience's with the cops here in augusta.... all because I have smoked pot they think I am the worst person in the world or something...(I think they hate to see my paychecks when they search my car!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I figgered he was pulling you over because you wernt wearing any pants lol!

any chance we can get a picture of this lense with a piece of paper behind it? I've had one on my vehicles for years and it's never been questioned. I even drive down 40 pretty frequently as well.

My reason which is prob. doesn't help the case was, i got mine free and they keep the tag clean, I can always clean the lense or replace it.

Being that it's illegal which I didn't know, nor did i know they disrupted visibility i might pull them off. I think all mine are clear though, i don't own any tinted ones.

Its possible he followed you waiting to see if you had any other violations and had been intially interested because of the tinted cover.
We arent allowed covers or frames. If all the plate isnt super visible, its ticket time.

Clear covers shouldn't be a problem anywhere.

I spent my life in New York where anything and everything got you pulled over, then moved down here and find out that there are no vehicular laws, only suggestions. I've seen cars with windshields spiderwebbed where their boyfriend or girlfriend took a bat to it, but it's still fine to drive since there's no inspection. It scares me to see some of the cars and trucks that are legally on the road around here.

I don't understand why a clear cover would be a problem. I get the tinted thing but not clear. Every state has it's little differences though. The last time I was pulled over for speed was in S.C a few years back. I had the c.c. set at 10 over the speed limit. It was nighttime and we were heading back north from the Daytona 500. Officer asked me something like why was I going so fast or was I in a hurry or something like that (Ohio plates). I told him straight up and I quote "To be honest, I'm just trying to make time." I got a warning and he sent us on our way. I would never get pulled over for 10 over on a highway in northern Ohio even at night. Different area, different standards.

No, they found that too extreme. Now they just cut off your left foot and left hand. It covers the bases - enginecycles and cars.

I'm pretty sure its because even if they are clear, they can still be coated with a material that will show up opaque on a photo, therefor making the photo enforced speeding and traffic light cameras useless.

A lot of places even have rules against frames. I dont understand that one, i just obey. :(

I thought Ohio still had the death penalty for speeding....
It's voluntary now, and since they reside in Ohio, it's what most speeders choose. :hehe:

- enginecycles
LMAO...I hear an echo from another thread.

I've seen frames that cover the state name on top as well as the county on the bottom. Some of those frames even come from the dealer.

Some frames cover the expiration date of the registration. I don't write them if they are dealer frames, just advise them to take them off. But I always write when they say that it comes from a dealer and it says something like ghetto gurl in sparkly rhinestones.

Haha....yup.

The dealers should know better. If they want to advertise on the cars they sell they should keep the frames legal.

Yep. I bought a pair of Jamie Mcmurray frames a few years ago but when I got them I noticed they were going to cover my sticker. I didn't want to risk getting pulled for it so I just used the one up front ( cuz Ohio is one of like 4 states that mandates a front plate. Blah!)

Sent from my DROIDX

New York also has a front plate as well as a registration sticker and an inspection sticker on the windshield.
When I first moved down here, I thought my car looked totally illegal with absolutely NOTHING other than a rear tag.

The biggest current concern for the clear plate covers is the glare off of he plastic. (Especially for speed/redlight cameras)

We have sent our PIO's out to dealerships to discuss changing the design of their promotional plate frames to allow them to use them, but have the registration information exposed..

I would NEVER put on a frame that would cover any tag information at all.
Common sense tells me it would be an infraction.
