I Had just purchased a grasshopper and well, Its just not fast enough. What can I use to upgrade the motor? Any suggestions? Please keep in mind I'm kind of a beginner at all this so please specify

Having a little experience with the Grasshopper and its' design (actually got to install an esc/motor combo in one when I worked at a LHS), brushless is FAR too much. The Grasshopper, while groundbreaking for its time, is just not designed for that much power.

That being said, about the wildest I would recommend, and it would be pushing the limits, is perhaps around a 17t modified brushed motor. Geared conservatively, it should provide more than enough power.

However, if you are dead-set on putting brushless in, I would highly recommend a lower Kv rating (around the lowest or second-to-lowest), and setting the ESC to the lowest power possible. You'll still get pretty good speed, but you won't risk wrecking a classic.

Some countries like fried grasshoppers....if that's what you want then go ahead and put a B/L setup in it.....I would enjoy it with a stock 540 motor and save up to get a better rig....
you will spend more money trying to make a turd break the sound barrier than just buying a rocket and doing it right.......

Well put, amigo, well put.

The grasshopper was never designed to handle anything wilder than todays' stock motors (which compare to modified motors of the time that the original hopper came out).
