RC Driving Style
I have two nitro cars: 1 touring & 1 off-road. I am looking to upgrade to a nice radio for both cars and wanted to see what some pro's & cons are. I have two quesitons:

1) Do you like using the stick radio for driving your nitro car, or does the pistol offer better control?

2) Are there any radio's out that feature a built-in failsafe?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Later....

I prefere the pistol grip style radios. They seem more comfortable to use.But thats just me..Some people would rather use a stick radio..

i use pistols on all my cars/trucks, and i think msot people do. but...as the radio is something you hold in your hand, it is all a matter of preference. as for built-in failssafes i dont think something like that is made, and i do not know how it would work?

Pistol or stick, it's all personal preference. I have used both and I like the pistol better. I haven't heard of a built in failsafe, but Futaba makes a model (i think it's the 2PL, don't quote me) that has a built in antilock feature. It's completely adjustable. My brother has it (AM freq) and what it does is pulse the brake when engaged. I like it, but don't know if it comes in FM modulation. It also has multi car memory.

Just to make sure, check the futaba website to check the model # but don't limit yourself to futaba. Airtronics also makes a nice radio. As far as other brands, couldn't tell ya the difference since I don't own the others.

Theres just to many fuctions a stick radio has that seems to bother me. My dad uses stick for flying airplanes and to use only 2 or 3 of those controls would seem pointless to emand really confusing at times. I say try both and figure out which it more comfortable.
