Picking Pipes

I tried a search with no results so i figured i'd ask!

I have a HPI NMT, mostly aluminum, with an O.S. .18CVRX Mill

I acquired a random ofna pipe because i broke the stock plastic one, and it's in pretty bad shape <Dents, plugged holes, etc..>

How does one go about buying a pipe? What differences do they make?

Also, I'm currently running the stock header, but will probably upgrade that with the pipe. Any specific suggestions?

some are are more durable then others. some are louder then others. the 2 more popular ones are the THS pipe and the Vantage racing pipe which is made from carbon fiber which makes it more durable then the THS pipe.

There's a number of pipes available from stock to tuned. When you get into tuned pipes, you some that are tuned for speed and some that are tuned for torque. Some sound good, nice and throaty and others are just annoying as hell. It really depends on what your after and if your racing or bashing. Just one thing, don't get fooled into a dual tip pipe, 99% of them are bling and gimmick and go against all that a tuned pipe is designed for.

Well, i mostly do bashing. And i tend to be a person that likes speed, but a balance between speed and torque is almost nesscessary for off-road -- Isnt carbon fiber kind of brittle? I tend to end up doing alot of flips due to pretty aggressive jumps and bashing, dont want to invest in a pipe that isnt built like a tank... Thanks!

I got a tsais dual tip pipe for my revo ( never knew dual tips were bogus). i noticed less accelleration than the stock pipe. it's pretty though but it's kinda quiet. maybe i should try the THS next time

A decent header is the Traxxas Side Header. It's flow is pretty good and it should mount right up to a NMT or MT2.

As for a pipe, you want a pretty free flowing one as well with a 18. If you buy a typical 15 pipe, it might be kind of restricted.
